I think you do need to think and review professionl shows differently to youth theatres etc-

although many  do great work  it is important to remember youth theatres are not normally professional.

It can be important to know a bit about the background, where the starting point for the company was- some of the performers may not have been onstage before etc.

Also as a professional you should be a bit more thick skinned to reviews.
