Actorsworkshop’s new Autumn 2011 line-up looks as exciting as ever! Whether you are an absolute beginner, have some previous experience or are returning to performing we’ve got a workshop for you!

And launching in September- a brand new Musical Theatre Class for young people!

The ‘Actorsworkshop for Stage’ series looks like this:

Actorsworkshop: Academy
Wednesday 28th September - Wednesday 30th November
7.15pm -9.15pm
Chapter Arts Centre: 1st Space

The place to meet actorsworkshop.

A place to build key skills in acting, theatre and performance! The sessions will cover areas such as sight reading, textual analysis, rehearsal techniques, acting styles and improvisation methods.
The course will lead participants through a series of practical workshops which delve into the process of acting. Participants will experience a range of acting techniques, concepts and ideas with a chance to try these out using new and established pieces of text. A relaxed place to learn new skills, meet like-minded individuals and have a lot of fun along the way!
Entry to this course will be by application form followed by successful applicants being invited in for an informal chat with the team.


Actorsworkshop: Academy Plus
Tuesday 27th September - Tuesday 29th November
7.15pm -9.15pm

The place to develop your skills.

The Academy: Plus class is designed for people who have some previous experience of acting and performance. The ten week workshop will lead participants though a range of practical workshops designed to enable authentic performances to be delivered every time. The course will delve into the foundation stages of the Meisner technique and participants will have the opportunity to try out these newly learnt skills on a selection of rehearsed scenes to be showcased at the end of the term. A safe and creative environment to develop key performance skills and enjoy being with likeminded performers.


Entry to this course will be by application form followed by successful applicants being invited in for an informal chat with the team. (In some cases an audition may be required)


Actorsworkshop: Advanced
Thursday 29th September – Thursday 1st December
Chapter Arts Centre: 1st Space
7.15 pm - 9.15 pm

The place to advance your skills


During the advanced term participants will have the opportunity to work on a scripted duologue from a published play/film as well as the chance to study performance monologues. The course will allow participants to develop a range of advanced performance techniques including Stanislavski's system, The Meisner technique and a selection of others whilst working towards an end of term show-back for friends, family and colleagues.
This term is pitched at a higher advanced level. Participants are encouraged to apply if previous training has taken place and a performance confidence is present.
Entry to this course will be by application form followed by successful applicants being invited in for an audition in front of the team.

Actorsworkshop for Young People
Llanover Hall Arts Centre
Saturdays: 9.30am-12.30pm
£75 per half term block (Siblings: £40)

Launching Saturday 24th September with a free taster session


Actorsworkshop is delighted to open its doors to the next generation of performers with a musical theatre based class each Saturday morning for young people aged 6–16. Each week students will be split into three age groups: 6-8, 9-12, 13-16 and have a class in Acting, Singing and Dance. No previous experience is required. All classes will be led by professional tutors who have a wealth of knowledge and experience of working in the arts.
The three classes each week will consist of a:


Drama lesson


Exploring character work and storytelling through improvisation and games as well as elements of script work, physical theatre and voice.


Dance lesson

Drawing on different techniques such as contemporary jazz, modern as well as improvisation to help the students develop an individual movement vocabulary.


Music lesson


Developing different styles and harmonies through learning a variety of song styles.
