Artist in Residence - Unexpected Collaborations

Have you ever thought about the connections and collaborations that might exist across academic disciplines? How could glaciologists and Egyptologists work together? What’s the link between gerontology, nano-health and cultural and political studies?

With a thriving, dynamic and diverse academic community, Swansea University’s Bridging the Gaps programme wishes to appoint an artist -, or artists - in-residence to bring new dimensions and interpretations to the way researchers explore, collaborate and undertake interdisciplinary research.

To encourage the broadest possible interest we’re not prescribing a set of expected outcomes. Instead, through your application, we’d like to know from you the areas you’d be interested to engage and work with. How would you like to work with us?

We anticipate £15,000 being available to cover all costs and expenses. However, depending upon the number and quality of applications we receive, this amount could be increased or more than one artist engaged. We are not precluding joint bids.

A full brief and an outline of the selection process is available from Andrea Buck, BTG Programme Manager,  btg@swansea.ac.uk

Closing date for applications: 5pm Thursday 1 March, 2012

Initial selection: Tuesday 6 March, 2012

Final interviews: Monday 16 April, 2012
