First Choice Project - looking for three fantastic creative arts facilitators and a dramatherapist to work with young people in Swansea

First Choice 12 PROJECT

  PROSIECT DEWIS CYNTAF 12

The First Choice 12 Project, based in the College of Science, Swansea University, continues a pilot initiative to workwith young people vulnerable to social and educational exclusion, and in 2012 will work with  370 or more hard-to-reach children and young people from the Swansea area.

We are looking for mixed team of three creative arts facilitators and a professional dramatherapist to work full time from February to November.

We will build on a combination of creative techniques developed in the pilot project of 2010 and 2011, developing them to achieve an effective original and replicable model of intervention for children and young people who face particular challenges in life.

These techniques will include theatre and educational drama, other creative art forms and a strong element of an arts therapies approach, specifically utilising dramatherapy to create new ways of working with this group of young people.

The team will work with Eirwen Hopkins and Martin Cope and the group’s consultants, to create bespoke intensive personal development workshops for children and young people

You must have the desire and ability to engage successfully withyoung people from a range of varying backgrounds. Also essential is the willingness to undertake further skill enhancement and professional training. You will need to be able to challenge and adapt your own discipline, take on new ways of working, and be responsive to the requirements and needs of the client group of young people. It’s not an easy job! But it’s a very interesting, satisfying and rewarding one.
