Last week Ysgol Y Creuddyn , hosted a production of Herspre (Hairspray) and It was so much fun to create with my fellow students and the best part of it was people absloutely enjoyed the performance. I had a small part of playing the part as Spritzer the president of Ultra Clutch Hairspray. But before I discuss the cast and characters , I really want to tell you about the set it was fantastic !

The set was created by a few pupils from year 10 and they had the assistance and mentor of whom I have had the privllige of working with before which is Gwyn Eiddor I'm pretty sure you have heard of him and his work. Anyway they had a workshop early on in the creation of The production to brainstorm their ideas, and mash them all together. Basically they decided to go for a across stage (I'm not sure what the term is in English properly because I've only learned the different stages in welsh but if anyone can correct me and can speak welsh please do, what I mean is Llwyfan draws.) so at one end we had the Corny Collins show and at the smaller end we had Tracy's house which to create the idea there watching the show on TV and we were able to put the School scene and Maybelle Motormouths house . On either side of the main stage we had HERSPRE on either side in colorful writing with fairylights around them it looked amazing and very pretty indeed all hand made as well. Then on the wall behind the mainstage we had a graffiti artist come in, I have worked with Andy before last time in Joseph and in Cwmni Fran Wen production of BOC.SYS.He spray painted a gigantic retro TV on the wall , it looked pretty cool , and we had colourful stripes by it side it looked groovy ! and we had a walk way between the two stages we painted these wooden blocks (a bit like the yellow brick road) but all in different colors. I will attach some pictures of the set at the end. 

I played the role of Spritzer who is the President of Ultra Cutch Hairspray, Orignally I was only ment to be playing the parts of the Flasher and PE Teacher but that changed to Spritzer and Flasher. When I first had a look at the script it said that Spritzer had to be nervous character adn then later on we see him he is this confident character all of sudden. To me it made no sense I could of done it easy and been serious all the way through , but where is the fun in that ?  I decided to go for a more naive approach a bit of a idiot so to say with a stutter when pressure got to him. My walk was very brisk, in my sand I seemed figity. At the end of every performance after I got changed people would come up to me and say you were funny and that theu really enjoyed the show. To me thats fantastic and makes me smile to know that Im ade people laugh.

Okay so the last thing I wanted to talk about is a script Im going to write its only going to be sketch and it is influnced by the greek play Electra (Soffocles)  the second episode . I am currently studying the play for my A level and as we were reading it as a class these ideas just came to me and I’m going to write it out. Ill put a copy of the first draft on here as soon as I am done.
