Something strange happened last night,

I went out into Bridgend. (This only happens once a year now - and that is an experience I tell you).

I went to Bridgend to watch a play and I watched a 'play' in a club.

I sat in the audience and took in this surreal moment and then a big smile came across my face and thought 'This is actually happening!!!'

Gary's play really packs a powerfull punch, the young cast under John's heartfelt direction are beautiful, emotive and demonstrate true talent.

Its a story that speaks to all.

I won't say anymore - you'll have to see it.

Afterwards we visited The Roof (did a lot of growing up in that pub in my youth) and did a small tour of all the places mentioned in the play - as part of the experience. I recommend it. The Roof hasn't changed much but we noticed that you don't stick to the floor anymore. Ha!!

We ended it up in a local chinese take away eating curry sauce and chips for £2 yippee and we all reminisced our youth.

We had such a laugh. It brought me back closer to Bridgend after many years of avoiding it!!!

Then I tried to go to sleep but couldn't and I thought 'My home town (which desperately needs a theatre) is changing, It's starting very slowly but I can feel it and so can others.

Thank you John and Gary and the vision of NTW for believing this could work in the town. Thanks for giving Bridgend a chance.

The NTW is helping change the face of the Arts in Wales. Its getting everyone involved regardless of academic background, its bringing theatre to everyone.

Bring on the Assembly. Hope you can make it on the 14th

(If you know any rich people tell them 'The Ritz' an old cinema and bingo hall would be the perfect theatre - Bridgend needs its heart back x)

I really enjoyed the performance and was physically aching from trying to stop myself from crying (in a good way though) Carmen I agree bridgend needs a theatre. I know they plan on turning 'The Ritz' into a multi story car park i think that would be a real shame. I totally agree that NTW are bringing such a positive vibe to Bridgend and i am so lucky to have been working with them all this week for the assembly. Let us all hope and work toward creating a better future in and around Bridgend through creative and cultural projects.......it's an exciting time xxxxxx :)

If I had gone to see Gary's play on my own last night, I probably would have really enjoyed it. However, I wish I had done a little more research on it before bringing along 26 members of our Youth Theatre, all of them angels (!?) when I could have given them a health warning. Some have only just recently joined and this was there first theatre experience! Yes, this play certainly 'packed a punch' that will leave a lasting impression on Caerphilly Youth theatre. Brilliant set. Great acting. Fantastic directing. Just wondering does the word 'minge' come from the word 'minger'?
