New musical- what are good ways of getting funding?

A few friends of mine have written a brand new musical, and I'd like to direct it in a small venue for a few nights to get some feedback on how we could move it forward. In order to do this we need some funding or a grant to hire a space and rehearse. Could anyone please give me some ideas on where we could get some funding to do this?

you could try a script in hand first, use the ticket money to hire the space - try Chapter - use the studio space, that way you get feedback before applying for a grant, hope that helps
