Cardiff Contemporary returns to the city this autumn, with a bigger, bolder profile and lots of new opportunities for artists, designers and makers to get involved through a number of programmes and projects.
Cardiff Contemporary hosts a biennial festival celebrating and promoting the visual arts in the capital city of Wales, during October and November 2014. This Cardiff Council initiative co-funded by the Arts Council of Wales has been developed in partnership with Cardiff’s visual art, design and architecture communities and aims to:
Applicants may apply for project funding between £1000 and £3000.
As part of a wider festival that will co-ordinate and promote visual arts events and activity throughout the city, Cardiff Contemporary are pleased to announce opportunities for both emerging and established artists, creative practitioners and arts organisations. We welcome applications for funding for commissions to produce site-responsive work exploring the festival theme of ‘Reveal and Conceal’, using wit and imagination to engage the public.
Your proposed project must take place during the festival season, 03 October – 9 November. Artists and arts organisations across Wales, UK and beyond may apply for the commissions that take place in Cardiff, focusing on City Centre, Cardiff Bay and close neighbouring areas.
Plans for additional site specific sequential exhibitions and activities are currently being developed, that will take place during the festival. we are offering funding support for artists and arts organisations to creatively engage through publicly sited projects. Artists’ are expected to work intensively with the Cardiff Contemporary Art steering group.
