Last year I had a brilliant time working on the Summercamp in Anglesey. It served not only as an introduction to the Company (I joined NTW only 4 weeks beforehand) but also to WalesLab, Matt Ball, and the wonderful and intriguing artists we took away with us. It was also a very long overdue re-introduction to the Isle of Anglesey. Some very fond memories!
Over the past few months i've been thinking hard about Summercamp 2014; what changes we might want to make to the structure of the project, the atmosphere of the experience and the make up of the group. The location too has been high on the agenda - over the past two years the landscape time and again proving to be a real inspiration for the artists, almost serving as the 21st member of the group. This year should be no exception.
I'm really pleased to be able to announce that applications for this years camp are now open. You can find out more information on the WalesLab pages here but the short version is:
Summercamp is a two-week residency for up to 20 artists with varied artistic and cultural backgrounds and with different levels of experience. We locate them within the landscape of Wales to share processes and practices and stimulate new collaborations. Together, Summercamp participants test out the ideas that will create tomorrow’s theatre.
If this sounds interesting to you, have a look at the WalesLab website for more information before completing the super-simple application form. The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 14th March. We'll aim to get back to people with a response with in two weeks.
Here's a postcard from our time in Anglesey.
