DO YOU LIKE TO SING?  WOULD YOU LIKE TO PERFORM IN LONDON?

We need enthusiastic singers to join us for a unique performance at Somerset House in London on Saturday 27 August this year. You don't need to be able to read music, you just need to enjoy singing a capella, and be up for trying something a little different...

We're creating a new choral piece as part of a programme of work inspired by the theme of Utopia.  The music will be written by award-winning artists Boff Whalley and Daniel Bye, and will be a miniature epic about what it's like to live in Britain's cities today: the good bits and the bad.

We're recruiting a choir of 50 volunteer singers from across the UK, who together roughly represent Britain's urban population, in terms of age, ethnicity and gender, as recorded in the 2011 census.  So we're hunting for confident singers of all backgrounds, shapes and sizes, who are free on Saturday 27 August to travel to London and sing something extraordinary together.  All expenses paid!

The performance will be professionally filmed and edited, and the video will become part of an exhibition at Somerset House - original home of the census. Volunteers will also receive their own copy.

Interested in what kind of music it will be?  We haven't written the piece yet, but here's a clip of a previous Boff Whalley / Daniel Bye choral piece created for Manchester Museum: https://vimeo.com/117190668

If you'd like to find out more, please email Rachel on utopiachoir@gmail.com - we'll send you all the information.
