I feel really excited to get going on my Wales Lab project next week. We have a sharing on 22nd May at 3pm if anyone fancies coming - send me a message and I'll give you all the details (I need to know who is coming as it in a mountain location).
I want to create a sense of a small community of workers descending Tryfan Bach, a small, 60 metre crag next to Tryfan in the Ogwen Valley.
Photo taken during a recce in February - brrrr, there was snow then.
I plan to work with really crisp, defined, workman-like movement. A sense of a long shot where the figures take a long time to approach, almost too small to start with, but gradually getting bigger. A painting on a huge canvas with real moving figures. The piece will begin at the top of the crag and end at the bottom - what happens in between we will work out during the week.
I'm very excited to be working with three dancers: Wren Ball, Despina Goula and Catherine Ryan; Rigger Simon Edwards and rigging assistant Sally Mees; Film-maker Ray Wood and Production Manager Menna Thomas.
All we need is some decent weather - I have everything crossed!
