This week, we welcomed Rhiannon Boyle to the National Theatre Wales team, and we wanted to take a moment to properly say hello to Rhiannon, and introduce her to you all!

You may remember Rhiannon was announced as the inaugural winner of 2019 Wales Writers in residence, an initiative between BBC Cymru Wales, BBC's Writers Room and National Theatre Wales, which offers the winning writer the opportunity to hone their craft over a portfolio of media, encompassing stage, sound and screen.

As part of the award, Rhiannon has been given the opportunity to develop her craft under the guidance of the of all three organisations over a course of the year.

Following her six month residency with the BBC, it's now our turn to welcome Rhiannon in as part of the National Theatre Wales family where we will be working closely with her in the development of her idea for an original piece of stage work.

Rhiannon, who hails from Holyhead, will have her winning Writer in Residence play broadcast on Radio 4 next month. We'll keep you updated on the confirmed time and date for that soon.

Until then, please join us in welcoming Rhiannon to the team!

The call for submissions for the 2020 Wales Writer in Residence is now open.  Visit https://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/opportunities/wales-writer-in-residence for more details. Deadline: Monday 11th May 2020.
