I have made a wide spectrum of theatre, ranging from acrobatic street shows playing to noisy crowds around Europe to the intimate and idiosyncratic poetic visual language of my company , Petra's Pulse, to the darkly surreal and comic plays of The Frequency D'Ici. Recently I worked as a performer with Belarus Free Theatre and Tanz Theatre Wuppertal, I'm a regular collaborator with Chris Goode and have toured nationally and internationally with artists including Caroline Horton, Matt Ball, Toby Park (Spymonkey), Guy Dartnel, Mischa Twitchin (Shunt)and Niki McCretton. I also work as a Clown Doctor with Theodora Children's Trust, visiting sick children in hospitals throughout the UK.
I think the theatre I make reflects a training combining fine art, theatre, clown and dance. At the core of the work is a curiosity about the art of theatre itself, the wealth of different languages that can be used to connect with an audience in a contemporary live performance, and how rich the resultant dialogue can be.
Location:
London, raised in Coventry, Mother grew up in the Rhondda Valley
Projects I’m working on:
A solo clown show confessional called Beating McEnroe, as devising collaborator on It's How You Tell Em with Rachel Mars. I'm also playing the american beat writer, Richard Brautigan in an opera called Tonseisha with the company Saltpeter. In November I will devise and direct a show with the third year students at Central.
