Casting Breakdown – Call for Actors – Paid Opportunity

Wales Millennium Centre are looking for three performers (2 of whom must be bilingual - Welsh and English) to take part in a large scale, interactive instillation Your Art Here, that will take place in the public areas of the Centre over February half term.

Interviews will be held on the afternoon of Thursday 31^st January.

Contract (with Wales Millennium Centre) from Sun 24^th Feb to Sat 2^nd March 2019 (One week / 6.5 days) fee of £500 plus £50 costume budget. Sunday 24^th will be the rehearsal date, (times TBC) with delivery of the project on Monday 25^th Feb – Saturday 2^nd March 9:30am – 4.30pm.

The Project

Welcome to The Gallery, Wales Millennium Centre’s half term family activity, February 2019. Families are invited to work together to make and create their own works of art to fill up The Gallery ready for the grand opening at the end of the week.

The Gallery needs to be populated by some art-world-staples; the critic, the investors, the collectors, an auctioneer, the artists themselves and an avant garde Norwegian performance art collective (obviously).

We want 3 actors to create these roles and provide provocations and interventions throughout the week. We know these activities work the best when a full and bonkers experience is had by the entire family and some larger than life characters will serve to create a fully realised world for our audience.

We need you to be:

A confident improvisor

Able to create strong and distinct characters

Ready to roll (or should that be role…) with the punches

Great with teeny tots and grumpy grannies and everything in between

Able to sense the mood and energise or calm the audience as necessary

A Welsh speaker

Great as part of a team
Available from 24^th February to 2^nd March 2019

The roles:

Actor 1

Actor 1 will stay in role as The Curator throughout the week. They rule the roost. They are flamboyant, eccentric and egocentric. They can’t think of anything in the world more important than themselves and this gallery. They name drop constantly and never miss an opportunity to make it all about them. They are extremely excited to have all these young up and coming artists creating work for their space.

Actor 2 and 3

These two will mix it up across the week. They will become:

The critic: an unimpressed, pseudo-intellectual, snobby but ultimately talentless bore.

The investors: people who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing, who will wave wads of cash at the artists and make ridiculous suggestions for improvements.

The collectors: Art lovers who are fascinated by the history of each artist, where else they’ve exhibited and the like.

An auctioneer: Over-eager, new on the job auctioneers who host impromptu and unintelligible auctions at the drop of a hat.

Performance artists: an avant garde performance art collective whose every move is ART.

Mae Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru yn chwilio am dri pherfformiwr (mae angen i ddau fod yn ddwyieithog - Cymraeg a Saesneg) i gymryd rhan mewn gweithgaredd ryngweithiol enfawr o’r enw Dy Gelf Di, sy’n digwydd ym mannau cyhoeddus y Ganolfan dros hanner tymor Chwefror 2019. 

Bydd y cyfweliadau yn cael eu cynnal brynhawn Iau 31ain o Ionawr. 

Mae cyfnod y cytundeb (gyda Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru) o Ddydd Sul 24ain o Chwefror –  Dydd Sadwrn yr 2ail o Fawrth 2019 (un wythnos / 6.5 diwrnod) gyda ffi o £500 a £50 ar gyfer gwisgoedd. Dydd Sadwrn y 24ain yw’r dyddiad ymarfer (amseroedd i’w cadarnhau) yna mae’r prosiect yn cychwyn ddydd Llun 25ain o Chwefror – Dydd Sadwrn 2ail o Fawrth o 9:30am – 4:30pm. 

Y Prosiect 

Croeso i’r Galeri, gweithgaredd hanner tymor i’r teulu yng Nghanolfan Mileniwm Cymru. Rydym yn gwahodd teuluoedd i weithio gyda’i gilydd i greu darnau o waith celf unigryw a newydd i lenwi ein Galeri ar gyfer yr agoriad swyddogol ddiwedd yr wythnos. 

Nid oes Galeri yn bodoli heb y bobl bwysig sy’n ymwneud â’r byd Celf, er enghraifft y beirniad celf, y buddsoddwyr, casglwyr celf, yr arwerthwyr, heb anghofio yr artisitiaid eu hunain ac yn amlwg, grŵp celf avant garde o Norwy! 

Rydym yn chwilio am 3 actor i greu y cymeriadau, i ysgogi a phrocio , ymyryd ac ymuno drwy gydol yr wythnos. Ry’n ni’n ymwybodol fod y gweithgareddau yma’n gweithio orau pan yw pob aelod o’r teulu yn cael profiad hwyliog, gwallgof a doniol, felly bydd y cymeriadau hyn yn helpu creu byd real o’u cwmpas. 

Rydyn ni angen i chi: 

allu byrfyfyrio’n hyderus

fod â’r gallu i greu cymeriadau cryf ac unigryw 

fod yn hyblyg ac yn barod i fynd gyda thrywydd neu stori yr wythnos

allu synhwyro awyrgylch ac yn gallu cyffroi neu dawelu cynulleidfa fel bo'r angen

Actor 1 

Bydd yr actor yma yn aros yn rôl y Curadur drwy gydol yr wythnos. Mae’r Curadur yn berson lliwgar, egsentrig a hunanbwysig. Does dim byd yn fwy pwysig na nhw a’r galeri. Mae nhw’n enwi eu ffrindiau enwog o hyd ac yn dwli dod â’r sgwrs nôl atyn nhw. Mae nhw’n teimlo’n hynd o gyffrous o gael yr holl artistiaid ifanc hyn i ddod i greu gwaith newydd ar gyfer y Galeri. 

Actorion 2 a 3 

Bydd y ddau actor yma yn newid rolau yn ystod yr wythnos. Y rolau gwahanol yw: 

Y beirniad: Person snobyddlyd, anodd i blesio sy’n ffugio deallusrwydd ond yn y bôn, person diflas a di-dalent ydyw. 

Y buddsoddwyr: Mae rhain yn gwybod beth yw cost popeth a gwerth dim byd, mae nhw’n chwifio’u pres yn ngwynebau’r artistiaid ac yn gwneud awgrymiadau rhyfedd am sut i “wellla” ar y gwaith celf. 

Y casglwyr: Mae’r casglwyr yn angerddol am gelf ac yn cymryd diddordeb dwfn yn hanes pob artist, lle arall mae nhw wedi arddangos ei gwaith ac yn y blaen. 

Arwerthwr: Arwerthwyr hynod awyddus, sy’n newydd yn y swydd ac yn cynnal arwerthiannau annealladwy ar hap, heb rybudd. 

Artistiaid perfformio: Grwp avant garde sy’n creu celfyddyd drwy berfformio – mae pob un o’i symudiadau yn GELF.
