With so many wonderful scripts out there, it's not possible to own them all so that one can read them. So, I thought we could pass requests about plays we want to read on here. If someone has a copy you can arrange to lend it by post or in person

Hi my name's Laura and I live in Cardiff so have no connection to Bridgend per-say, however I moved to Wales around about the time it all started to get the media attention and remember just hw uge it all was. I was also involved in a show that went…

My Name is Sue was ace; similarly Midsummer by David Greig was a joyous, generous piece of theatre. But for me the overall winner was Orphans by Dennis Kelly, directed by Roxana Silbert. Three actors, a single set, delivering a beautifully precise p…

I'll certainly come and see this and will cajole non-theatre-going family to join me. It sounds great. Love the 'rampant self-promotion' tag; but it certainly worked, in my case.

Hurrah, Well done Gary, Amy and all at the Sherman. Looking forward to seeing it (and Plum) on Friday.

Of course you should never take any notice of reviews: if you pay attention when they say you've done well, it's hard not to pay attention when they say you just shouldn't bother any more. So it not because I care, or because I take any joy that w…

I'm going to echo Tim by saying - this is great news. And great to see assistant posts getting some kind of financial reward, instead of going by default to those who don't need to earn a wage.

I think you are approaching this from the wrong end. There is a Cardiff Festival and (I anticipate) they would welcome any production or group of productions to come under their banner. And why not the sub banner of "fringe". They welcomed The Lord…

Have you looked into where money is being spent in the borough? I know that there has been an injection of cash into services and was wondering what they had been using it for. Certain guidelines and protocol have been put in place in schools as wel…

Thanks, all of you, for your responses. Gareth's right in that I've been very circumspect about what this piece will actually be. But I can see even from my initial posting here, I haven't been careful enough. I wrote - Do you think it's a good ide…

A Christmas Carol

Of course you should never take any notice of reviews: if you pay attention when they say you've done well, it's hard not to pay attention when they say you just shouldn't bother any more. So it is not because I care, or because I take any joy that we get a four-star review right next to Southwark's th… Continue

The author is dead! Long live the author!

Given that we are apparently all engaged in an Agatha Christie style joint killing of the author in theatre, in favour of digitally-inspired collective craziness, this post (and the resulting discussion in the comments) on the role of the authorContinue

Notes on Bulletproof

Bulletproof is a verbatim play I've been working on for Replay, a theatre company in Belfast. It's about mental health in teenagers, and is made up from the words of a number of young people I met there. I thought it might be worth sharing here the notes I've written to introduce the play.

Notes on Bulletproof

One problem of promoting mental health in the young is that the phrase itself, 'mental health', has come to have

Walkabout

I walk around old haunts in Bridgend. It takes most of the day. I make sure to loiter for a few moments outside an ex-girlfriend's house. I am gratified to see her mum has installed solar panels - it seems so optimistic and forward-thinkin… Continue

Belfast

I'm writing a piece about mental health in young people for Replay Productions, so I spent last week in Belfast, getting to know a group of teenagers at the New Lodge Youth Centre. And had lots of cooked breakfasts from the cafe at the Spires shopping centre, just down the road from the bus station (£2.80 for five items, or £3.50 for seven plus a glass of orange juice, if you're keeping an eye on the old five a day). Hi Gary,
Just a quick note as I came across your profile on the website, that as a graduating actor from East 15 in London, myself and another Welsh actor, Liane Walters, are performing an extract from your play, 'Cancer Time' at our showcase. We would like to invite you to come - it's on at 1.00pm at BAFTA in Piccadilly on Friday 18th September, and if you happen to be about London and fancy a free glass of champagne, it would be brilliant (if not a little bit scary!) if you are able to attend. If you are around, please contact Andrea Brooks (brooksa@essex.ac.uk). Would be great to see you there! Thanks, Ffion
