Norman & Judith- WalesLab

As part of WalesLab, we have being given the opportunity to explore and develop a brand new piece of work. A chance discovery in a charity shop leads the way to the exploration and investigation of two people: Norman & Judith. Over 90 opened and unopened Royal Mail First Day Covers and letters were sent from Norman to Judith from the 1960’s to the 1980’s. This project will document our journey. See More

Beach challenge 3

Firstly, an apology. I know you're not expecting this challenge until tomorrow but tomorrow is a busy day for me so I'm sorry I've had to issue it early. I'm hoping none of you will mind.

So, this week's challenge...

As I'm sure most of you know by now, NTW05 The Beach combines both theatre and gaming. With the challenges so far Bethan has challenged you to create story, Carl too looked at the creative writing side of things. Me, I'm going for pure… Continue

Playtest pics

Thought I'd share some of the pics from the last playtest we did in Prestatyn. It was as fun/crazy/mad as it looks and if you want to be a part of it get in touch with us so we can let you know when and where the next playtests are happening. We'd love you to come and play!

It was amazing, The Beatles returned to Prestatyn in the middle of our playtest just as I had my camera out. Who'd have believed it?…

hello sunshine!

Apparently the sun is going to shine until Tuesday which is just perfect for us. We're off to Prestatyn again tomorrow until Tuesday to do more playtesting. 3 days, playing games on the beach in the sunshine, hmm, am I really working?

Well yes, actually, pretty hard but I'm pleased to say things are really coming together now and seeing people playing our games and seeing how well they work (or don't work) is a really exciting stage to be at. The people we've met in Prestatyn…

'story' so far...

As Bethan has said, we're now back on our home turf and are able to focus on story. It has been fun playtesting our game ideas (it's amazing to watch how easily adults find their inner child when a water pistol is placed in their hand! see below)

but our second trip to the beaches of North Wales has inspired new ideas and our games are definitely set to change for the better.

We're now at the stage where we can develop…

POST IT!

I am sitting in a white room. There's no padding on the wall (though maybe there should be!) just lots and lots of post it notes! Brainstorming for The Beach has begun.

And so far so good.

Ideas have been flowing, marker pens have been marking, post it's have been stuck and re-stuck and we now have 4 solid themes ready to be honed and discarded and looked at… Continue

Hi Rhiannon,
Really great to see you at the writers room yesterday after all these years, and I'm sure you're going to enjoy the excitement, and hard work, ahead over the next few weeks. Good luck with it!
