Mzansi Cymru is inspired by the events of 1964 in South Africa when the iconic film Zulu was being made in Natal while at the same time, Nelson Mandela was being given a life sentence for treason and being transported to Robben Island.

We plan to create an epic piece of musical theatre that revolves around the story of a young Welsh boy and a Zulu girl who meet on the film set of Zulu and fall in love but are torn apart by the unforgiving laws of the apartheid system. The story will follow their lives in the succeeding forty odd years until the final unravelling of their story at the London Olympics.

Our long term vision is to build a mutually supportive bridge between the Valleys of South Wales and communities in the Townships of Cape Town to bring about positive change in the lives of disadvantaged individuals, in pursuit of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

For this ambitious and exciting project we will need a large scale cast covering a whole range of performance skills to work alongside a team of professionals. We will are looking for an array of talents to enable us to tell the story in as rich and multi layered way as possible. We need YOU!

"Welsh gold and African diamonds”…the arch of a rainbow

Cheesy? Perhaps. Poetic? Most definitely. True? I believe so.

My name is Beca Lewis Jones and I am the Project Officer for Mzansi Cymru. Let me explain; I never go anywhere without a notebook and pencil case (my notebook is known in the office as The Bible and my pencil case is overflowing), I write 50 emails a day and receive 10, I am addicted to meetings, I am never far from a kettle and the boot of my car is full of props for school workshops.  All this is in…

As time is getting near I am looking forward to next Friday.

My lady-friend and I are both going and into acting and performing so I hope it will be of great enjoyment to see the talent which may otherwise not be seen.

Best of luck all round.
