Only 10 days to go until Torchbearers opens!!

Yesterday over fifty South Africans- actors, dancers, musicians, circus performers and Fezeka Choir flew to Wales from the townships of Cape Town to join forces with over a hundred Welsh performers for the production of TORCHBEARERS in the Wales Millennium Centre on 20th and 21st July. Torchbearer Auditions

The MZANSI CYMRU project is looking for two professional actors as part of its VALLEYS KIDS/ WALES MILLENNIUM CENTRE co- production ‘TORCHBEARERS’

 

The project is part of the Cultural Olympiad and brings together the communities from the South Wales Valleys and the townships of Cape Town South Africa in an inspiring love story told through drama, music, circus and dance.

Mzansi Cymru: Torchbearers FLASH MOB

On 3rd December 2011 unsuspecting Christmas shoppers got a big surprise at the Wales Millennium Centre. Over 70 people spontaneously burst into song and dance in this awesome Flash Mob, choreographed by Natalie Spiteri, marking the dates of performances for the Torchbearers - Mzansi Cymru (coming to the Donald Gordon Theatre in July 2012). 

This is a must see!…

Wales goes to South Africa

I am standing in the middle of a circus tent, smack in the middle of Cape Town, circled by the elevated ring road and shadowed by the omni presence of Table Mountain. This massive marquee dome is the  home of Zip Zap Circus - well home for another two years until the developers move in and move Zip Zap out.

 

But for now, on a Saturday morning, it is a teeming prism of spectacle and platform for adventure and derring do. There must be at least a hundred young people here…
