Creative Practitioner Callout! New deadline!

Puncheston Primary School

Creative Practitioner Opportunity

Puncheston Community Primary School is looking to work with two enthusiastic and imaginative Creative Practitioners for a project to design and create an engaging, innovative space within the grounds of the school.  We aim to inspire creative writing and encourage oral storytelling to raise literacy standards through the medium of Welsh across all ages (4-11) with initial delivery to a key focus group.

The school is a 1950s build and houses its own extensive art gallery with a strong Welsh tradition; it is therefore an ideal platform to inspire exciting artistic ideas.  We are hoping to find an inspirational designer with experience of creating large builds (Welsh speaking desirable but not essential), as well as a fantastic storyteller (Welsh speaking essential) with experience of delivering storytelling workshops and promoting the Welsh oral tradition.

The project will take place during the Spring Term of 2018 and will begin in January.  It will run for approximately 12 weeks.  The precise timeframe and number of sessions will be negotiated with the successful candidates.

We are hoping to interview artists who have specialised in set design and builds to help us create an inspirational space as well as storytellers who are experienced in creative writing and promoting the Welsh oral tradition.

The total budget for the project is £5,000 for practitioner delivery and planning fees (at a rate of £250 per full day) and reasonable travel and subsistence expenses.  This budget will also include project-relevant materials.

Deadlines for expression of interest: 5pm, Monday 13th November.  Interviews will be held at the school after the closing date.

The successful Creative Practitioners must be available to attend a 2-day training session, taking place on 15th & 16th November in Llandrindod Wells  or 21st & 22nd November in Swansea (unless they’ve already attended this training for a previous Lead Creative Schools project).  For further details about this opportunity and to submit your expressions of interest along with your CV, please email both our Creative Agent: naomichiffi@nationaltheatrewales.org and School Co-ordinator: head.puncheston@pembrokeshire.gov.uk
