Prisoner on the run, misunderstood poet, child murderer, student, kidnapper or prophet?
Sitting somewhere between detective thriller, philosophical tale, poetry anthology and American gangster movie, Koltès’ scandalous play appears to investigate the life of Roberto Succo, the infamous 1980s Italian serial killer.
Join August 012 in this exploration of violence, tenderness, beauty and comedy accompanied by live choral music and saturated electric guitar solos. Expect your moral compass to be unsettled as you are initiated into the mystery of Zucco.
Roberto Zucco is August 012’s second production after the acclaimed Caligula last year (nominated for Best Production at the Theatre Critics of Wales Awards 2014), directed by Mathilde Lopez (Director of National Theatre Wales’ award winning Tonypandemonium).
"It does what all live theatre should: excite and engage the audience." Buzz magazine on Caligula
"August 012’s debut production is great, perverse fun. One hopes there are many more to come.” British Theatre Guide on Caligula
Supported by Arts Council Wales, Chapter and NTW TEAM.
