Do you have an idea/script/dream, which you’re not sure how to get off the ground?  Are you looking to get involved in new projects and find new collaborators?  Are you a theatre-maker
who’d like to meet other theatre-makers and play for a day?  Answer yes to any of these questions and Workout is for you.  Taking place at a variety of locations around Wales, it's a
day long event which gives creative people a chance to get ideas off the ground and meet fellow theatre-makers.

As well as a chance to work on participants’ projects, the day includes a Skill Swap session.  This gives you a chance to find the help you need when you need it, in return for helping others out on their projects. A wide range of skills are encouraged from acting, directing, cake baking to photography, unicycle riding or singing . . .the list goes on! The balloons and sweets come free.

This session will take place at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.  All welcome - just email team@nationaltheatrewales.org to let us know you're coming and if you can join the TEAM group here.

Hello everyone!
I hope you’re looking forward to Workout and Skill Swap as much as me and Peter are. it should be a great day. We’ve had lots of brilliant projects come out of the past few workout and skill swap sessions in Cardiff and I’m looking forward to seeing what develops at this one.
I know some people are bringing projects that they would like to work on or discuss - there were some fab projects mentioned at our last seeion in Newport for example that I’m hoping we can help people develop further. If you are bringing a project it would be really useful if you could email me a little bit of info on it, just so we can structure the day so that it’s most useful for you.
For example:
I’m bringing the beginnings of an ideas about doing a site-specific piece at Castle Coch based on Sleeping Beauty. I’d like to work with people to start plotting how the story could move around the castle and grounds. And to see if the idea would work!
Or
I’m bringing a script that I have written. It is a modern piece about the modern day slave trade. I’d like to work with a director and some actors to workshop a section to help me refine the script.
Or
I’ve got lyrics for a song that I am hoping to use in future, but I’d like to work with some musicians on it to get the music written.
Or anything else that is on your mind right now!
By letting us know WHAT you want to work on and with WHO (musician/ writer/ director/ actor/ designer/etc) we can arrange the day so that everyone has something useful to take away.
It would also be great if you could let us know 2 or 3 (or more if you’d like) skills that you are willing to swap with people. These tend to happen outside of the sessions at a later date. For example - teaching someone how to juggle, translating a press release, actor, driver with a van, writer, advice on set design, help to source costume for a play, etc. It doesn't have to be what you do for a living (although it can be) and it doesn't have to be something creative - people who can also PAT test electrical equipment or help do a get-in are always popular people!
The Important Bit
So, it will take place in the Victor Salvi room at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff and will run from 10.15am to 4.30pm.  We'll have 2 sessions (so everyone bringing a project will get to be in 1) and we'll also have a Skill Swap sessions throughout the day to help you find people to swap skills and services with.
Practicalities
NTW is happy to pay travel expenses again.  This now includes those travelling within Cardiff but excludes taxi fares.  Anyone driving can claim the cost of a 2nd class train ticket from their location.  Anyone coming from an area without a train service just consult with Laura at NTW (address above) who will advise what best to put.  We can also pay car parking.  Travel Expenses form can be got by emailing Laura (email address above).
We won't be providing tea and coffee this time as the wmc meeting rooms aren't really set up for it - but we'll have some snacks in the room and tea and coffee can be purchased from downstairs.

Feedback
We’ll have feedback forms on the day. We'll give time in the session to fill it in and any comments are very appreciated!

Any queries let me know.

See you Saturday!
Emma
