Using a combination of movement, music and text, Sosban Fach examines cultural identity and belonging. It explores the languages, culture and history of Wales from the point of view of a quartet of individuals. These four performers search for the connections between their own individuality, feelings of exclusion and shared experience. The show aims to act both as an introduction to Welsh and an exploration of concepts of national identity.
The show will be primarily in the English language but will aim to introduce non-Welsh speakers to key words alongside a few small sections in Welsh.
Please note that the showing on the 26th October will result from an initial two weeks of research and development into the performance elements of the concept. The aim is to see how audiences react to this content and as such the design and technical elements at this stage will be limited.
The project is being developed by Lisa Wells-Turner (The Space Between) as part of the ‘Yr Odyn’ Artist Development Scheme at Volcano Theatre. More details about the scheme can be found at http://www.volcanotheatre.co.uk/537/news/yr-odyn.html#/image.php?id=447
It is kindly supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
