Event Description

Sent your script to Talawa:

Talawa's history of nurturing and collaborating with outstanding writers like Roy Williams, Derek Walcott, Jackie Kay and Malorie Blackman is well known. Talawa is now developing the next generation of Black British writers such as Arinze Kene, Somalia Seaton, Theresa Ikoko and Inua Ellams.

Tell us your story

We welcome submissions from Black writers in the UK.

We have up to 3 script submissions windows per year.

The current submission window runs from 1 December 2015 to 31 January 2016.

How to apply

Please submit an electronic copy of your script and a separate covering letter telling us a bit about yourself to scripts@talawa.com.

What happens next?

You will receive an email to confirm that we have received your script. It will be read by one of our script readers, who will report back to our Literary Associate in our Readers’ Meeting.

You will either receive a detailed script report or if your script is selected for further development you will be invited to come in and meet with us.

This process takes three months. Please note it can take slightly longer if your script has been shortlisted and recommended for a full read by our Literary Associate.

We are looking for writers and plays for Talawa Firsts and the Talawa Writers’ Programme. Your script will be considered for these opportunities and more.
