Actors needed for Theatre vs Oppression script development project!
Hello all
I'm looking for actors to take part in a script development project being run by Cardiff based Theatre vs Oppression.
A bit about the project: TvO are working with 6 writers who have created the first 10 minutes of 6 seperate pieces. The idea is to use Augosto Boal Theatre of the Oppressed techniques to rehearse/develop these pieces before they are presented back to an audience on the 31st January (probably at Chapter). The audience, actors, etc will then give feedback as to how the story/characters could develop before the writers go away and produce the next 10 minutes which will go through the same process. After 6 performances it is hoped that by the end of the year we will have created 6 seperate plays of an hours legnth - potentially a very exciting project!
I have a 10 minute script by Niel Bebber to work on for which I am looking for 5 actors with an interest in using Theatre of the Oppressed techniques in the creation of character/story.
Specifically I am looking for:
male and female in 20's
female in 30's
male and female in 50's or older
If you fall outside these fairly broad specs please get in touch if you are interested as there may be other opportunities with other directors involved in the project. Also scripts will be swapped between directors at each stage of the project, therefore I have no idea who I will need for the next stage!
Time commitment - There will be 6 hours of workshops on evenings or the weekend in the week of 25th January in Cardiff - Dates and times will be arranged according to people's availability + 2 hours rehearsal before the performance on Sunday the 31st January.
Payment - There is no payment for this project at this time - however, if you are interested to find out more about how Augusto Boal techniques can be used in rehearsal and the development of character then this is the project for you. Also this is a pilot/experimental project, as it develops further opportunities for paid involvement may occur dependant on how each piece develops.
