We are recruiting a freelance assistant producer or stage/company manager for The Talking Shop

This call out is to recruit a freelance Talking Shop assistant producer/stage manager/shop manager for the final trial in Caerphilly County which will be open January 20 – mid April 2024 We are particularly interested in receiving applications from freelancers born or based in Caerphilly County and/or the Welsh Valleys.

The successful applicant will be required to attend an interview online and online training session and be DBS checked.

The deadline to apply has been extended to January 14 2024.

 

When and where is it?

The work will be in person in Blackwood.

The shop will be open 9.30am -5.30pm (with an hour break) 6 days a week from January 20 to mid-April 2024.

The assistant producer/stage manager/shop manager will be required to be onsite full-time Monday – Friday from 9am until 6pm from January 20 until mid April 2024.

The Fee

The assistant producer will be contracted on a freelance contract for an all-inclusive fee the equivalent of Equity/ITC rates of £550 a week.

You will be contracted as a self-employed person and will be responsible for declaring your earnings to HMRC and paying your own tax and national insurance.

No previous experience, skills or knowledge in Democracy/Politics is required. The Talking Shop and The Democracy Box is non-partisan and is NOT about party politics.

Duties & responsibilities 

This role will involve working with Omidaze Productions/Yvonne Murphy, project partners and other contracted collaborators and co-creators of the Project to fulfil all duties required including and not limited to 

  • Supporting and covering for hosts in opening and closing the shop and running the shop including being the prime host of the space in close collaboration with a freelance co-host and/or co-host from a partnering organisation
  • Meeting and greeting all visitors
  • Sharing and signposting to all relevant cultural and democratic information both inside and beyond The Talking Shop including and not limited to The Democracy Box content and story
  • Capturing conversation and evaluation data/evidence
  • Conducting research and reporting findings
  • Fulfilling set briefs
  • Helping source, collect, collate and curate information and responses to the Project 
  • Being responsible for the overall health, safety (including fire safety and instructions) and day to day smooth running of The Talking Shop 
  • Contracting and supervision of freelance team
  • Supporting the management of the budget and  financial processes of The Talking Shop
  • Attending training and investing preparation time to be up to speed on The Talking Shop and The Democracy Box project and all related background information and resources 
  • Supporting the creation and distribution of Talking Shop comms and marketing materials
  • Supporting the creation of and lead in the overseeing of documents including risk assessments, insurance requirements, tenancy requirements and all health and safety requirements (including first aid training) and be the responsible lead in ensuring that these are adhered to at all times during the project
  • Contributing to the project evaluation process/evaluation document. 
  • Attending meetings and undertaking both on-site and remote/digital working
  • Contributing to further aspects of the project including the overall and final evaluation of the project 
  • Supporting the programming of The Talking Shop and overseeing the onsite delivery of that programme
  • Supporting the freelance host in opening and closing The Talking Shop at the advertised times and overseeing preparation prior to and post-closing.

Background Information – What is The Talking Shop?

The Talking Shop© is a Culture and Democracy Information Centre. All Talking Shops will contain The Democracy Box. 

The Talking Shop encourages and facilitates public engagement with creativity, arts and culture, and democratic systems and structures. 

The Talking Shop is a space for the public and creatives to collide, converse, connect, collude and create. It is a public R&D space which encourages and promotes cultural and democratic participation. 

A space in which to articulate, champion and strengthen the role of the creativity and democracy in society and empower through a sharing of information and knowledge.

The Talking Shop is a physical ‘what’s on’ hub which everyone helps curate. It is a public space which explores the intersection between cultural and democratic participation. A shop which sells nothing and where talk is rich and never cheap. A space with information, creation and conversation at its core.

Mae’r alwad hon ar gyfer recriwtio cynhyrchydd cynorthwyol Siop Siarad llawrydd ar gyfer y treial olaf yn Sir Caerffili a fydd ar agor rhwng Ionawr 20 – Chwefror 17 2024. Pryd a ble mae e?

Bydd y gwaith yn bersonol yn Blackwood.

Bydd y siop ar agor 9.30am -5.30pm (gydag egwyl o awr) 6 diwrnod yr wythnos rhwng Ionawr 20 a Chwefror 17 2024.

Bydd gofyn i’r cynhyrchydd cynorthwyol cyn ac ar ôl agor a bod ar y safle yn llawn amser o ddydd Llun i ddydd Gwener o 9am tan 6pm o Ionawr 20 i Chwefror 17 am gyfanswm o chwe wythnos.

 

 

Y Ffi

Bydd y cynhyrchydd cynorthwyol yn cael ei gontractio ar gontract llawrydd am ffi hollgynhwysol o £3,300 a delir mewn tri rhandaliad .

Byddwch wedi eich contractio fel person hunangyflogedig a byddwch yn gyfrifol am ddatgan eich enillion i CThEM a thalu eich treth ac yswiriant gwladol eich hun.

Nid oes angen unrhyw brofiad, sgiliau na gwybodaeth flaenorol mewn Democratiaeth/Gwleidyddiaeth. Mae The Talking Shop a The Democracy Box yn amhleidiol ac NID yw’n ymwneud â gwleidyddiaeth plaid.
