Profile Information:

What I do:
Actor / Writer / Theatre Maker (Acting agent - James Ireson at Narrow Road & Literary agent - Ikenna Obiekwe at Independent Talent)
A little more about me:
I'm from Barry, I'm an actor and I write plays.

As an actor I've worked with LIFT, Improbable, Young Vic, Kneehigh and BBC. I trained with Philippe Gaulier and also with Keith Johnstone and Angela de Castro.

Work as a writer has included commissions from National Theatre Wales, being awarded place on 2016's Jerwood Arvon writers scheme, and am mentored by multi-award winning Chris Thorpe.

I was Artistic Director leading ‘one of the UK’s most idiosyncratic of companies’ (Lyn Gardner, Guardian) Cartoon de Salvo and I decided this year to put the Salvo's on hold to follow opportunities in my independent career as an actor and writer.

I recently played Little Monk in Joe Wright's acclaimed production of Brecht's Life of Galileo at Young Vic, and filmed A Very English Scandal by Russell T Davies for BBC, directed by Stephen Frears. My play Light is on a Timer is currently under commission to the RSC

Previous work
I was Artistic Director of Cartoon de Salvo. Describe the Salvo's work as a cocktail of script-defying impro, live music and storytelling; on a quest to mess with live theatre. The Salvo’s have toured everywhere from allotments, clifftops to Washington DC, from proper producing houses to shopping malls, to Edinburgh, Glastonbury and Hong Kong International Festivals. Our best loved home was in site-located and community settings. Shows include: Meat and Two Veg, The Sunflower Plot, and The Ratcatcher of Hamelin and we toured a site specific show Pub Rock to rural pubs in South West England and the Welsh valleys. The Salvo's are also known for being able to improvise an entire story from just a title and with no structural safety net; collaborating with a live band called the Adventurists in an theatre event at the Soho Theatre called Made Up.

Trained as a Relational Dynamics coach in order to better support the artists I teach in drama schools, creative learning and education settings. First artist on the board of the National Rural Touring Forum. Currently developing Birdhouse - a social network empowering independent female theatre makers - which led to speaking and chairing at Cardiff’s first Women of the World at Wales Millennium Centre.

I also play mandolin/sing in alt-country band the Du-Rell Family
Location:
UK
Projects I’m working on:
My RSC play is still in development and another play is cooking about language and gaslighting...

I've been working on a project called Permission Improbable about women, impro and...permission, with...Improbable.

I've also been cooking up a project called Birdhouse which supports leadership development for independent female theatre makers. This has led me to be invited to speak at Women of the World Caerdydd at Wales Millennium Centre last March.
