 Cwmni Syrcas Gyfoes a Chelfyddydol yw Cimera. Rydym yn gweithio i greu darnau perfformiadol gwreiddiol sy’n archwilio posibiliadau a’r cysylltiadau rhwng artistiaid a chymunedau i greu llais artistig unigryw i Ogledd Cymru. Wedi'i sefydlu ym mis Ionawr 2013 gan grŵp o artistiaid proffesiynol llawrydd a pherfformwyr cymunedol, rydym yn sefydliad sy'n ymroddedig i greu a datblygu celfyddydau cyfranogol bywiog yng nghalon y gymuned, a chynhyrchu gwaith o ansawdd uchel.

Cynhyrchiad : Drudwen

Mae "Drudwen” wedi'i selio ar chwedl fodern dywyll sy’n ymdrin â themâu o drawsnewid, o ddewisiadau a chanlyniadau. Dyma stori sy’n tynnu ysbrydoliaeth o lên gwerin, hud a lledrith am frawd a chwaer amddifad sy’n cael eu hachub gan y ddewines, Drudwen. Mae’r sgript wedi'i wreiddio'n ddwfn mewn syrcas gyfoes a theatr gorfforol, gydag elfen grêf o ddigrifwch tywyll. Mae’r sgript yn gwneud defnydd o’r Gymraeg a’r Saesneg.

“Daw Drudwen, y ddewines o hyd i Olga a'i hefaill Ogi yn fabanod yn y goedwig. Mae hi'n mabwysiadu’r ddau ac yn eu magu’n ofalus a’u caru ond maent yn tyfu i fod yn farus a sadistaidd, yn anghenfilaidd bron. Mae Olga yn rheoli ei brawd gwan ac yn ddirmygus ohono ond eto'n ei angen. Mae hi’n hyll ond eto yn goeglyd a’i chwant am bŵer yn ei harwain i wneud penderfyniadau dinistriol sy'n ei gadael yn unig a bregus.”

CASTING CALL - Performer for the role of OLGA 

Company: Cimera

Cimera are a Contemporary Circus and Arts Company.  We work to create original performance pieces, explore possibilities and make connections between artists and communities to create a unique artistic voice for North Wales. Founded in January 2013 by a group of professional freelance and community artists and performers, we are an organisation dedicated to creating and developing vibrant participatory arts at the heart of the community,  and producing high quality work.

Production: Drudwen

“Drudwen” is a dark modern fairytale drawing on themes of transformation, choice and consequences. Taking as its starting point abandoned twins discovered in the forest by an enchantress, it draws inspiration from universal folklore and myth. Its themes resonate with people of all ages and cultures. The script uses both Welsh and English and is heavily rooted in the genres of contemporary circus and physical theatre, with a strong sense of dark humour.

Role: Olga

“Olga and her brother Ogi are twin baby Ogres who are found abandoned in the forest by an enchantress, Drudwen. She adopts and loves them but they grow to become greedy, sadistic and insatiable. Olga is controlling and warped and though she despises her weaker brother she also needs him. She is ugly but vain. Her desire for power leads her to make disastrous decisions which ultimately leave her alone and unstable.”  

We are looking for a professional performer who has previous experience of devising as part of an ensemble.

Necessary skills 

  • An understanding of physical theatre and a willingness to use the body to help tell stories. 
  • Ability to work as part of an ensemble
  • Devising experience - able to share creative ideas and explore with curiosity and playfulness
  • Ability to authentically connect with an audience. 
  • Willingness to join the team and support its positive, playful ethos, and assist with get ins/get outs and van loading. 
  • Fluent Welsh speaker 
  • Acting experience with the ability to deliver lines in Welsh and English with a North Wales accent

Preferred skills

  • Experience of circus, dance or physical theatre 
  • Any musicality and singing ability (please mention this when applying)
  • Based in North Wales 
  • This role may include working at height
  • Although this is a physical circus/theatre production this role will be devised to suit the ability and skills of the performer. As such a willingness to explore your personal physicality is more important than any particular skill level or physical ability. 

Production and Tour dates

Rehearsals: June 24th– July 20th, Bangor

Get in and tech, Pontio: 21st 22ndJuly

Shows, Pontio: 23rd, 24th July

Additional rehearsal: 5th–  9th August, Llanelli

Touring: 21st October – End of November. Some dates are still in negotiation, please let us know your availability during this period.

Fees

All company members are paid the same rate, based on £500 per full week. Travel and accommodation costs are provided when away from home.

Auditions

Auditions will be on 11th April in Bangor, North Wales and will be a workshop style audition with interviews. The day will be conducted in Welsh and English.
