Head for Arts - Call out for performers

Head for Arts is looking to recruit a small group of performers to assist us in the delivery of Elemental, a promenade performance to be staged on the Blaenavon Ironworks site as part of the Cultural Olympiad celebrations in Wales.  The performance will take place on 29th & 30th June.

Elemental is the culmination of a three year community arts project, at least 300 people from the local area have been involved in the creation of this multi-arts performance, whether through the rehearsal stage, during the live performance, the learning and development of original music or in the creation of an Ipad “app” which engages young people in composition.

There are a range of community groups taking part in Elemental- including the town band, the school choir, local dance groups and the North Torfaen Youth Theatre.  We are hoping to recruit some experienced performers who would be able to support and assist our Youth Theatre members during the promenade aspect of the piece.

Rehearsals will take place between 1 - 5pm on the Blaenavon Ironworks site on the following dates:
Sunday 10th, 17th, 24th June

Performance Dates 29th & 30th June 2012

Please get in touch with us if you are interested in taking part in this exciting project.

Please note, we are looking to recruit performers who would be interested in taking part in this project on a voluntary basis and we are unable to offer any fees to participants.  This project does, however, present participants with an opportunity to get involved in an usual, stimulating piece of theatre and could provide a great experience for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the community arts sector.

Elemental is one of eight Cauldrons and Furnaces projects taking place across Wales during summer 2012.  Cauldrons & Furnaces is a partnership between Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service, and Arts Council Wales.  It forms part of the Power of the Flame, funded by Legacy Trust UK, to create a lasting impact from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games through funding ideas and local talent to inspire creativity across the UK
