more dreams and realities at the Scala

Every week Ffilm Scala goes from strength-to-strength - there's a regular group of young people coming into the Creative Surgeries with amazing enthusiasm and ideas - they can whip out a storyboard or two in the first hour and have usually rehearsed a rough outline and assigned roles in the second. We've had the immense good fortune to have Ryan Hall who's committed to coming every week until he starts his new job in the film world (I'm hoping to get him to join the NTW Community so that he can blog about it). This Thursday (17th Feb), he'll be helping us make props & we're hoping that he'll run a prop-making workshop as part of the 2nd Prestatyn Youth Arts Film Festival in May this year.
Shared dream... Sarah Wilkie & me are starting an Arts Hub at the Scala on Saturday 5th March. Sarah's an amazing designer-maker (checkout her work on www.sarahwilkiejewellerydesign.com - especially her wind-turbine inspired pieces...) and we plan to run a Saturday morning arts programme for young people.  The reality is that we've managed to get local support in the form of cost-price art materials and we'll finalise publicity tomorrow, initially for a 6 week run. This will hopefully lead to workshops and masterclasses for all age groups... but I'm dreaming again...
Back to realities - within the creative space of the Thursday night sessions in the Media Suite and especially with sonic artist Zachery De Santos & poet Rhys Trimble undertaking the bloc commission at the Scala on 25th March (www.bloc.org.uk), I'm hoping that space enables the exploration of every aspect of “digital” possibility, be it film, theatre, dance, music, installation, sound, art, poetry.
