Love Reading’s Room to Read event returns!

And this time in a new space for readings.

Bring a favourite book to share aloud, and meet a little before 12 at the junction of Greyfriars Road and Kingsway, Cardiff, opposite the Hilton by the statue of the girl and bird. Then find yourself a space – there are several low walls and steps to stand on if you want - and begin reading aloud as the City Hall clock finishes striking at 12 midday, Saturday 31st July.

Everyone reads simultaneously, for as long or as briefly as they like, between 12 and 12.30. Bring a bright umbrella too, if it's raining.

The point is to create islands of calmness and concentration amongst the hurly-burly of Cardiff’s Big Weekend - people standing still amongst the flow of pedestrians, mentally concentrating not diverted, the steady rhythm of voices and words amongst the chaotic sounds of traffic, fun fair and entertainment – you’ve got the picture by now.

The Facebook profile is called Love Reading, with photos and the wonderful range of pieces read at previous events. We know those of you who’ve already taken part want to do it again. And those of you who weren’t able to make it can join in and find out why everyone who’s read wants another go!

Contribute to the general atmosphere and fun of the Big Weekend in a very individual way!

And please pass this on to everyone you know who’d be interested too.

Looking forward to seeing you Saturday 31st, 12 midday!
