See TaikaBox’s exciting remixed version of Beyond the Body

Prepare to be transported into a mystical world of religion and ritual, chakras and shamanism, talismans and transcendence, as TaikaBox return to the Sherman Theatre with a remix of their 2012 production Beyond the Body on 11 June 2014.

The show is based around the story of a writer whose research into alternate states of consciousness takes her on a fantastic journey of self-discovery. The story plays out on a white stage, bathed in the light of two projectors that constantly shifts between cinematic imagery and digital environments that respond to the movements of the performers.

Beyond the Body originally emerged in 2012 from a collaboration between Tanja Råman and John Collingswood who make work as TaikaBox, and renowned Hollywood cinematographer Bill Mitchell. This year they are reworking the show and premiering the new version at the Sherman Theatre, before taking it to Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August.

The hour-long show features the skills of 5 dancers and a soundtrack specially composed and played live by Eyebrow – a Bristol duo who are no strangers to theatres, having performed with the likes of Earthfall, Kneehigh and Travelling Light.

TaikaBox’s Beyond The Body will be at the Sherman Theatre on Wednesday 11 June, 7.30pm.
