THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO @ West Yorkshire PLayhouse
What would you do if you had everything you held dear ripped from you in one instant?
Edmund Dantes is nineteen and a newly gazetted ships captain, with his childhood sweetheart set to become his wife. Then without warning he finds himself imprisoned on a trumped up charge. Thirteen years later, in disguise as The Count Of Monte Cristo, he's about to pay a visit to the people that put him there.
Writer Joel Horwood and director Alan Lane have created a reckless new version of Dumas' epic story. A small cast take the huge story head on playing 42 characters with just 6 actors, capturing all the adventure and tragedy of the Count's transformation from wronged youth into seductive avenger.
