we have started....massive company, mess up the mess and valleys kids

last night we began our work.  Having been thwarted by snow we all gathered in Amminford. By we i mean, MESS UP THE MESS, VALLEYS KIDS, MASSIVE COMPANY and NTW.  We, MASSIVE COMPANY are here to work wih these companies toexplore our process and way of making theatre with them. How this  may manifest itself is still to be seen..unfortunatley tonights session has again been cancelled due to snow in the valleys...but it feels great to have begun and connect in with everyone.

We began with a form of a MASSIVE COMPANY blessing last night where we mark this moment of starting with a karakia (blessing) and then everyone present gets the chance to say,do or sing something about this moment. Lots of people spoke lovely words about what and who they are thankful for, what excites them about this project etc. Someome sang a most beautiful welsh song.Others bought well wishes from their families, plus food and the recipes of significance. One person showed us a beautiful table cloth from new zealand which her nan had bought back many years ago. We were presented wih our own love spoons which are most precious. Once everyone had spoken we all greeted each other through the hongi, hand shake or hug. We then shared food together.

Post food we then got down to some work which focused on everyone getting to know each other plus some sensory trust work. We will begin devising with them tomorrow using material from the provocations we set prior to our arrival.

Feeling a little envious, what a wonderful experience. Enjoy it!

The karakia sounded beautiful. Peri has filled me in on all I missed! Was sad I couldn't be there but I think Peri shared how much I am thinking of you all. Really looking forward to seeing what comes out of your time together on Sunday. Fingers crossed the weather starts playing ball.
