It would be wonderful if NTW could work with the groups and establish some new ones.
I believe Tim Baker and NYTW are developing the work of young dramatists perhaps this is the sort of project that the squads,NYTW and NTW could support as the infrastructure support is already in place.

Have you got a way with words?
The National Youth Theatre of Wales is planning to launch a new venture for young writers.

We are calling for young people between the ages of 16 - 23 years to join us, work with us, improve their skills and be part of the creation of the National Youth Theatre of Wales production in 2010.

You do not have to have any experience of writing for theatre just an enthusiasm for exciting ideas, contemporary issues and dramatic situations. If you join us, over the next three years you will have a chance to work with some of the most experienced, professional writing and directing talents in Wales; you will participate in workshops where your work will be challenged, expanded and explored with actors, within both reading and rehearsal situations, and contribute to the development of a brand new play for NYTW 2010.

This is a real chance for your voice to be heard, to see your work come to life, and be part of a unique opportunity spanning three years and culminating in the premiere of a new production that will tour to venues in Wales and, possibly, beyond!

Hi Guy

I've previously run 'writing drama' sessions with both Powys Young Writing Squads and the response from the young people was always very positive. As a playwright or a screenwriter in those situations you're a bit of a ghost figure by comparison to the poets or novelists who also lead the sessions. The key difference being that they will have seen and held books by those authors whereas many of them have never even seen a play on the page never mind a screenplay.
