Hi Catherine, thanks for your reply. Hmmm, well I am doing As You Like It, at the Willow Theatre, at the moment. What I ultimately want to do is develop a collective to create new work with new writers. This is something which before this website began seemed a daunting task in Powys. Most of the best theatre makers leave Powys for bigger and greater things and making proactive contact with the remaining ones has up to now not been easy. The NTW website is helping me get inspired again, reconnecting me and making things seem possible- hooray!

I still have more to learn before I can say what I want in the way that I want to (although I will try), which will come from working with the best theatre makers and companies within Wales. Self promotion has been on the back boiler for the last 2 years; as I have a 15 month old baby. I am hungry for it again now though and ready to work. I will let you know what comes of it and when I have something for you to see x

Hi Catherine. It was lovely to see you at the Unicorn today - so glad you could make it. Now back home in Cardiff for 3 days - working on an opera I'm writing/directing for WNO Max - then back to London to catch the last weekend of performances there. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the day and your evening and feel it was a worthwhile trip. See you soon. Best wishes, Sarah

Hi, Catherine. I'm replying to your message from the 8th of June! It's taken me a while to figure out how work this interface- It's not the best board software.

Anyway- Museum Theatre. Yes, it's bringing historic people to 'life'. I've worked at Llancaiach Fawr Living History Museum for 18 years now, playing the same character! (and it's driving me mad!)

Luckily, I can freelance quite a bit, and I've done lots of work with Past Pleasures, who orginally trained me. I've also done professional work for Tussauds Group, Mists of Time, and many film and TV productions of an historic flavour.

I am certainly NOT a re-enactor! Whereas re-enactors are considered enthusiastic amateurs, I am a professional, and make my living in this work.

I've played Cromwell, Ben Franklin, Fox Talbot, Colonel Blood, various historic officials who arrested Guy Fawkes, victorian engineers, medaeval comissioners, gatewardens, castle stewards, lords, lawyers, mayors, proto-baptists, I seem to get cast for parts with gravitas.

I'm trained in first-person techniques, where you have to research the character and really get into the period attitudes. Even down to minute social details and historic speech, if practical.

I'm a memnber of IMTAL, the International Museum Theatre Alliance, which is a sort of talking shop really, but does pool and share certain resources.

I'd really like more professional acting work outside the museum sphere, especially if it's historical!

If you'd like to know more, please contact me.

Hi Catherine, lovely to hear from you and thank you for the welcome. All done and dusted at the Academy now, which feels very strange but exciting as well, just waiting for graduation. Plans at the moment are to head back to Wales for a few months over the summer and then take it all as it comes. If possible, then I shall have fingers in all the London/Scotland/Wales pies, but that may well be a bit greedy. Am really looking forward to being back at home for a while and, hopefully, getting involved in some of the exciting things that are happening in Wales at the moment and meeting some of you lovely folk from NTW. So please do keep me posted on anything that is coming up...x

Catherine, lovely to meet you on Friday evening, thanks for coming on such a summers night. I enjoyed performing again after an absence from the stage of some 14 years. I am off to Italy tomorrow, taking 8 performers to create a version of Oedipus in a castle, the audience will be blindfolded and receive the work through text, sounds and smell (after sunset). Blindfolds seem to be very popular at the moment!x
