Pay it forward

In the social economy, businesses that "pay it forward" and actively employ generalised reciprocity as part of baseline engagement and communication with their audiences, increase the value and social capital of their brand in each online network with which they engage ... or so says this new HBR article

The best kept secret ...

... is finally in the public domain! 13 ( yes, THIRTEEN) new productions creating not just a theatrical map of Wales, but also, in my view, a mix of productions that create signposts to the future of theatre itself.

Today's launch was memorable because it married these new beginnings with a contemporary voice; digital communication on a grandscale, but it remained, nonetheless, a human, very intimate event that allowed us to feel a sense of optimism and excitement about a shared creative future… Continue

Trail Blazers! Boris Johnson sends message of support to NTW

If all central London theatres changed their practices so they only switched stage lights on half an hour before each performance, they could collectively save over £100,000 a year in energy costs. So says the Mayor of London’s plan Green Theatre: Taking Action on Climate Change.

When told of NTW's plans to be Carbon Neutral from the outset, Mayor Boris Johnson said ...

Chasing the elusive connectivity click ... or, what can social media do for the Arts?

Individuals started it. Media moguls saw the opportunity and started buying-up the platforms. And now, organisations smell an untapped market & people are trying to make money out of it. Making money by restricting access. Making money by selling user applications. Making money by telling people how they can use it to make money.
What am I talking about? I'm talking about the proliferation of social media platforms that have burst into our lives in recent years. But now its got to this money… Continue

Going green keeps theatres ahead of the curve...

Audience members and communities are growing more and more concerned about the environment. Governments are taking action. Large businesses are taking the lead in greening their practices. Homes built to be energy-efficient are selling quickly, even in a market downturn.

But what about the theatre industry? It's shocking to learn, in London alone, theatres create an estimated 55,000 tons of carbon emissions per year - that's equivalent to the average emissions of 9,000 homes!

We believe theatre… Continue

Hmmm, do you have to be ON stage to be important? Sounds Like I've missed something... maybe strange question, but where was this best kept secret taking place, or is that the secret?

Agree. doesn't sound great when put like that (how do they justify the 'charge')? Of course, ideally, we should put relationships and connection above money to 'buy' a way in, but what if you're really on the outside in the real world & only connect…

Will be blogging soon - still knackered and very stiff in the shoulders and back. (Chaz is normally operated by four people so a lot of weight and work for one!) Will blog once some images have been sorted.

Whole thing was one of the most extraordinary things I've ever done. Incredibly exhilarating. Totally focussed for whole hour, but all through Chaz - how she reacted to things, behaved, explored this new view of the world etc. Loads of people associated with the project turned up (at 3.00am)! Brought instruments etc and set up this hour long mini music fest / party for her in the square below! Got fantastic feedback all round.

Irritatingly there's been a delay getting Chaz's hour on the One and Other website but they are working on this and other glitches. Will let you know when it's accessible.

Hi Deborah, thanks for the add. The forum and debate section scare me, as so many on here are 'intellectuals', use big words and waffle instead of getting to the point. This website annoys me and pleases me at the same time, haha!

Undeb is newly founded and we aim to have our first event in Nov/Dec with many things planned... it's all exciting! Will keep you posted x
