Information

good cop bad cop

good cop bad cop is a Welsh performance company drawing on its members' various fields of expertise: film, photography, dance, sound, visual art and live performance.

John Rowley and Richard Huw Morgan, who make up good cop bad cop, created the company in 1995. Both were previously core members of Wales's influential experimental performance company Brith Gof and John is a regular collaborator with Forced Entertainment. The company's work, as well as reflecting these multiple influences, is often preoccupied with the relationship between performer, audience and environment, and frequently takes place in unconventional sites.

Following on from last year's ACW funded R&D project "I or U", 2018 sees the production of a new work, "Phantom Rides Again" combining the results of that research with their 2008 hit "Phantom Ride"

Mae'r cwmni perfformio good cop bad cop yng Nghaerdydd yn castio am Phantom Rides Again a fydd â'i berfformiad cyntaf yn Chapter, Caerdydd, ym mis Tachwedd a mis Rhagfyr 2018. Ariennir gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru ac mewn cydweithrediad â Chapter a Chanolfan Mileniwm Cymru.

Rydym yn chwilio am dri perfformiwr proffesiynol i gydweithio gyda'r cyfarwyddwyr artistig John Rowley a Richard Huw Morgan a'u cydweithiwr Wendy Houstoun.

Mae Rowley a Morgan wedi bod yn gwneud gwaith arbrofol gyda'i gilydd, a chydag eraill (Brith Gof, Forced Entertainment, Pearson/Brookes, National Theatre Wales) ers 1990. Mae llawer o'r gwaith hwnnw yn bodoli mewn olion ac atgofion yn unig. Yn 2008 gwnaethant Phantom Ride, perfformiad wedi'i seilio ar olion gwaith coll y gwneuthurwr ffilm William Hagger . Yn 2017 cawsant gyllid Ymchwil a Datblygu Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru i archwilio ailgyflwyno eu gwaith coll eu hunain.

Yn 2018 Phantom Rides Again maent yn ymestyn yn ddyfnach i adrodd, ac ail adrodd - ar straeon, ieithoedd, dibynadwyedd a hygrededd ... newyddion ffug.

"Phantom Ride elevates the art of the unreliable narrator to a new level-its very unreliability is unreliable....clever, funny and filled with deadpan charm" Andrzej Lukowski, Metro 2008

Cardiff-based performance company good cop bad cop are casting for Phantom Rides Again to be premiered at Chapter Cardiff in November and December 2018, funded by Arts Council of Wales and in collaboration with Chapter and Wales Millennium Centre.

We are seeking three professional performers to work alongside the artistic directors John Rowley and Richard Huw Morgan and their collaborator Wendy Houstoun.

Rowley and Morgan have been making experimental work together, and with others (Brith Gof, Forced Entertainment, Pearson/Brookes, National Theatre Wales) since 1990. Much of that work exists only in traces and memories. In 2008 they made Phantom Ride, a performance based on traces of the lost works of film-maker William Hagger. In 2017 they received Arts Council Wales R&D funding to examine representation of their own lost works.

In 2018 Phantom Rides Again delves deeper into the telling and retelling of stories, languages, reliability and credibility...fake news.

"Phantom Ride elevates the art of the unreliable narrator to a new level-its very unreliability is unreliable....clever, funny and filled with deadpan charm" Andrzej Lukowski, Metro 2008
