Tonypandemonium

10th - 19th October 2013

In its centenary year the Park & Dare theatre in Treorchy plays host to the first play from Dylan Thomas Prize winning author Rachel Trezise; a raucous, raunchy, hilarious and heartbreaking account of a daughter’s fraught, decade-spanning relationship with her beautiful, fun-loving and alcoholic mother. ‘You just know it’s going to be one of those nights. She’s on the change. I’m on my period. Hormonal teenager and neurotic mother under one terraced roof? My father’s got a word for it: Tonypandemonium.'

I agree with you KJ Elsdon, I think a lot of people will be sorry they missed it !!

Unless, of course, it returns in the future by popular demand  ???

Having lived out of the country for 30 years I was looking forward to returning to Wales and finding out what has been going on in my absence. Let me add that I trained at Mountview (Diploma in Stage Management and Technical Theatre) and have worked at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg, so I have a fairly good idea about what constitutes decent theatre.

I'm now living in Trealaw and was very excited about going to see Tonypandemonium at the Parc & Dare on Friday night. All I can say is, many congratulations to all concerned - it was FABULOUS! The script was wonderful, the cast members were absolutely terrific and from a technical point of view it was also flawless. I was especially impressed by the organisational abilities of the stage management team (ensuring that the props were all exactly where they were supposed to be must have taken a lot of work!), the atmospheric lighting design and, may I say, the sound design was superb.

A really stupendous job by the whole team and I was very excited to see all the young talent that we have in Wales. I'm now looking forward to the next NTW production - a huge pat on the back, pawb!

I've been asking people what question does the Rhondda Valleys most want to Ask?

So far people have said:
'Where CAN the Rhondda Valleys sit in the cultural and economic landscape of Wales?'

'Can the Rhondda Valleys escape the past and Fashion a viable future?'

'What are our opportunities?'

'Do we matter/does the Rhondda matter?'

Whats would your question be?

Hi, Thank you Jen I received the info pack, and some more Posters & leaflets around 1pm today.  I did pop up to Park & Dare  this morning, said Hi to some the cast about to start rehursals & I took the last few copies of  'Made in Treorchy' leaflets, but no posters left there I'm afraid.  Have a brilliant Launch on the 19th and I will catch up with everyone when I return from my holidays on the 28th.

Hi - Just to warn you, I raided the Park & Dare this morning   (there was no-one there from NTW)  so I stole loads of 'Made in Treorchy' leaflets and Tonypandemonium A5 Leaflets - and pounded the High Street in Treorchy, until I ran out ..... again !!  I was hoping to have more of the larger Posters and those Beermats ????

Anyway, I  will be with you tomorrow (Tues) morning to grab some more and hopefully see you all - before I set off on my holibobbs   :)
