Mr and Mrs Clark plus special guests are performing a juke box style Cabaret show in the Old Coral Bookmakers Shop on 15th December from 7.45pm. You can pay a recession inspired price on the door and select from a menu something you would like to see. All are welcome and we hope to recruit some volunteers for an all day continous cabaret show on Friday 17th December. We'll be at the shop from the 11th so if you want to pop down, help decorate or get involved please come and see us. We use the term cabaret in it's broadest sense, any type of performance is possible.

The Wednesday night performance has been moved to the Old Dragons Den Shop. There is a meeting before hand to discuss the Empty Shop Project and then an interactive Jukebox that we call NINE. Come along, bring your own booze and celebrate the success of the shop project with us.

It's snowing, it's -3, and our 1988 Citroen AX is going nowhere. But we are walking into Newport and the Continuous Cabaret will happen in some form or other today. If getting there is safe for you it would lovely to see you there....but if not put on your favourite song and sing it loudly and have a little cabaret of your own.
Many thanks to all who attended Wednesday's event at the Den...much fun!
    xx

I am running an open workshop for anyone who would like to get involved in the Riverfront Dance Studio on Tuesday 31st May 2011. It is from 6-8pm and is loosely based on Rhythm, Music and Movement, although this may change completely. I am working on some new ideas based on participation and performance and is the first of a series over the next few months. Please let me know if you would like to attend, just so I have a rough idea. Everyone is welcome, no musical skill or performance experience needed...just a willingness to have a go!

    Good point....next one in Madrid?
  • Gareth Clark

Well after a mighty launch to our workshop experience...things have gone a little flat. After beating out some tunes, grunting in time and moving to the sounds of a scratch orchestra in free flight....the momentum is sadly lost as the Riverfront has no space in their busy Arts Centre for us....well except Saturday Afternoon...which could be fun(?) or using a smaller less well suited space not really designed for the type of shenanigans we like to get up to. So any alternative suggestions please. Where could we continue the madness and would you be up for it if we did?

Answers on an email to you know who.
Taxi at the end of the month looks mighty.....we should all check it out!

22nd July .... the Old Bakery ....something happening.

    Want to get involved?

  • Gareth Clark

We have had no real success in finding another space for workshop type activity as yet and but thanks to those who responded - well to George. Anyway we are putting on a night of performance and fun at the Old Bakery and we wondered if anyone wanted to get involved. It is a small space - Cabaret type venue but intimate and we think fun. I keep saying Fun...is this doing it for anyone...fun....is it? We are aiming to produce a Cabaret of sorts...odd bits of work and anything anyone wants to contribute. There is a screen, DVD and projector and a PA system. Some sort of random Bingo or surrealist quiz would be good fun. Anyway if you are in the mood, wanna do something or just come to watch we are looking to do this on 22nd July from 8pm. All to be confirmed.

Let me know your thoughts ...it gets lonely out here on our own, pretending to be horses.
    Love
    Gareth

It's on .....Friday 22nd July at the Old Bakery, 4 Commercial Road, Newport. An artist social with a little light cabaret and head bending nonsense. Doors open at 9pm....be there by 10pm if your coming and please remember this is a private house, so there are no signs, just ring the bell and give Dave £2. There is a small bar and you can bring your own booze....so economically sound! We are celebrating.......

The Mr and Mrs Clark Medicine Show is in Newport next week as part of Comedy Port at the URBAN Shop Project in John Frost Square 12th and 13th October. Tickets from the Riverfront are just £5.
    “Dangerous, Unruly, Hilarious, Unpredictable, Fun”

The Medicine Show, often run out of town, believed to be the bringer of disease or ill at ease, is the last bastion of hope for the balding, the infirm or the impotent. Mr and Mrs Clark's Medicine Show is an alternative to alternative therapy. It is a performative pill box for the love sick, the aching boned and the snake bitten. A show where you, the audience, are in our prescriptive minds and we want to help you all. We want to remedy your ailments or scare them clean away. In desperate times we cling to desperate measures.

“Great. Unpredicatble and so engaging – I was hooked from the start and enjoyed the mayhem.” – Audience feedback from Incling, Wales Millennium Centre August 2011.

Mr and Mrs Clark present their Medicine Show, developed through The Incubator Project at the Wales Millennium Centre and with the support of Miligi’s Cardiff and Ricky White.

    Male Actors Needed

Hi everyone I'm Mikayla McCarthy I'm with The Ghost Room Theatre Company based in Newport.

Currently we are working on a play we have written called An Evening with Poe and are in need of 4 male actors. The play is a sort of murder mystery with our own ghost room spin on things, we like to perform in venues that fit the setting of the play, for example one of our past plays The Dragon's Backbone was set in a tavern and so we performed it in the upstairs of a social club.

The play we are doing; An Evening with Poe is about a group of aristocrats who have gathered together sharing their love of Edgar Allan Poe and to hear the renowned story teller Miss Aveugle recite some of Poe's works, but things turn sour and someone loses their life while a set of jewels are stolen by the elusive thief The Raven and it is up to blind storyteller Miss Aveugle to deduce who both the murderer is and the identity of The Raven.

There is an element of improv. required, but not much as it's 95% script.

As I said we are looking for 4 male actors.

We rehearse in the centre of Newport so easy to get to, we cannot pay you or pay expenses, but this is an opportunity not to be missed, please message me for more details if you wish.

Head on over to our facebook page to find out more
