Directors, designers, choreographers, composers, production people... A group for everyone who is interested in Creative Production at National Theatre Wales.
In A Comedy, six individuals are brought together to face the task of creating ‘A Guide To Humour’. Unique, mischievous and controversial personalities collide as they explore the nature of humour in a post-COVID world of cancel-culture and sensitivity.
A diverse group of performers will devise this riotous and challenging stage of the R&D, asking us to consider what is funny nowadays...and what isn’t!
The dramaturg will be an integral part of the R&D, present at both phases of the devising process and involved in structuring and preparing the material for a final presentation. Other duties and responsibilities include:
- Administration and research of creative work with Co-ordinator
- Identifying potential audiences alongside the Producer
- Working independently with different members of the team, as necessary
- Attendance at two digital meetings/workshops
- Bringing a knowledge and/or understanding of comedy, access and consultancy
- A sense of humour, ideally.
This is an open call and, as such, we are extremely interested in hearing from applicants with protected characteristics and/or those from under-represented communities. Due to the nature of the project, some of the subject matter may be triggering.
Contract: 30 days between December 2021 and March 2022
Fee: £3,600 (plus expenses, as required)
Key Dates
Monday 10th - Friday 21st January 2022 (10 days) in Newport, South Wales
Monday 7th - Friday 18th March 2022 (10 days) in Newport, South Wales
Plus 10 additional days to be agreed with the Co-Ordinator and Producer
Due to budgetary constraints a base of within 30 miles is desirable, but this can be discussed with the right candidate.
If you’re interested, please provide us with a document outlining your experience for, and interest in, the role. This can be in written, audio or video format and should be sent to:acomedy2022@gmail.com. We will invite successful candidates to an informal Zoom chat the week of the 22nd November.
Deadline: Friday 12th November 2021, 5pm
This project is funded by the Arts Council of Wales and The Carne Trust, and supported by Tin Shed Theatre and Disability Arts Cymru
