I'm a socially engaged visual artist, curator, and founder/director of Gentle/Radical, a cultural organisation founded in 2016. Based in Cardiff, and working across different artforms and disciplines, I'm involved in projects that find their manifestation at the intersections of contemporary culture, social justice, decoloniality, and sustained community engagement.
A little more about me:
Based in Cardiff since 1993 - and originally working as a theatre director then moving into the visual arts in 2001 - my work is informed by participatory approaches, site-responsive engagement, performative explorations, and an interest in spaces of dialogue and conversation.
I have a background in community development and cultural practice, and have run various projects with diverse communities across South Wales. I'm founder and coordinator of the Gentle/Radical Film Club, which has provided sustained access to culturally sensitive community film spaces for BAME women for over 15 years.
As a curator, dramaturg, researcher, writer, performer, composer and facilitator, I'm interested in how radical spaces of change, inform the radical potential of culture, within democratised cultural settings which seek to address those most disenfranchised by the cultural sector's abiding hierarchies of access and representation,
