I"m a visual artist, based in Cardiff, working with video, installation, site, text and public realm intervention/encounter. I also lead community engagement/participatory projects, with communities across Wales.
A little more about me:
I've been based in Cardiff since 1993, originally working as a theatre director, then moving into the visual arts in 2001. My work - either within my own practice, or working as an artist for other organisations - is informed by participatory approaches, site-responsive engagement, performative explorations, and an interest in spaces of dialogue and conversation. I've exhibited within leading galleries across Wales, and have led ambitious participatory projects with numerous groups and for various organisation and institutions, from Bridgend Council to Artes Mundi.
I've got a background in community development and cultural practice, and have run various projects with diverse communities across South Wales. I'm founder and coordinator of the WOW (Wales One World) Women's Film Club, which has provided consistent access for over 10 years to thousands of women from diverse communities across Cardiff to independent film and world cinema in safe, women-only spaces.
Projects I’m working on:
I'm currently developing a new video artwork, working with 60 Cardiff residents, and based on Tony Blair's 3 hour 2010 testimonial to the Chilcot Inquiry.
I'm also lead artist on the Ideas People Places project for Artes Mundi, Valleys Kids and RCT Homes, running from February 2015 to 2017.
I'm also lead artist (November 2014 - July 2015) on 'Mining Josef Herman', a digital archive project for Tate Britain/Josef Herman Foundation, which seems me working with communities in and around Ystradgynlais.
