It’s My Shout Productions Ltd. are seeking aspiring DIRECTORS for BBC Wales Series

Each year, It’s My Shout Productions searches for new production talent across Wales, whether they are writers, actors, gaffers etc. – from any area – and  then produces 6 short films for BBC Wales in the autumn.

For 2012 we’re seeking another batch of new talent, including six aspiring directors. Those lucky enough to be selected will work with a professional production team of industry experts, on one of six short films, to be shot on location across Wales. The directors will be guided through the pre-production, production and post-production elements of creating a broadcast short film. Each film will be allocated a 3 day intensive shoot between mid-July and mid-August before Post-production takes place in-house at BBC Cymru Wales.

Alongside the 6 films under the “Made in Wales” banner, we also make a 30 minute ‘making of’ documentary. This year, all 6 films will be screened to an audience of almost 2,000 people including celebrities and industry experts at a 10th anniversary premiere and awards event this October at the Wales Millennium Centre, before having their television debut alongside the documentary on BBC Cymru Wales this Autumn. Previous guests at the Premiere have included Gavin and Stacey’s Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon and Hollywood’s Michael Sheen.

It’s My Shout nurtures new and established talent across all departments, including; pre-production, production, and post-production, both in front of and behind the camera. It acts as a gateway to the industry and provides the opportunity for participants to learn new skills and demonstrate their talent and aptitude to potential employers. It’s My Shout has a particularly high success rate with those being involved in the scheme either going into higher education in the field or in gaining further production work, both paid and unpaid.

Past directors include Griff Rowland, who now regularly directs on Coronation Street and Ryan Andrews, who directed 2 short films with It’s My Shout and is now promoting his new feature film Elfie Hopkins and the Gammons, starring Ray Winstone.

This is now your chance to get a credit as a BBC director and further your career. Applications close 30th March 2012.

We wish all applicants the best of luck and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in contact.
