Livestreaming from the Rehearsal Room - Thursday (14th November) - Parallel Lines

So last week, I was lucky enough to be one of the Producers selected to be part of the Digital Producers Lab. Not only has it given me a burst of energy and left me feeling like I'm not alone (a real gift to a lonely freelancer) but it's inspired me to come up with a lot of new ideas . . .

I'm currently working as Producer on Dirty Protest's up and coming production of Parallel Lines by Katherine Chandler.

Within the production we are not using digital technologies but rather using it to disseminate information about the production and I've been thinking about how we can make this a little different.

On most of the projects that I've worked on I've had minimal budgets to plough into digital activity and that is because as Producers we don't usually think about this element of the production until we are already into the process of the creating the show, when we have already gained our funding (this is starting change). So I am left to use the resources that are free and that I'm comfortable in using, but I try to be creative with.

I really enjoy being in the rehearsal room and observing the stage manager, director, assistant director and actors working and I've noticed that even the most avid tweeter when they get in the rehearsal room gets absorbed in the moment.

So on Thursday during the Parallel Lines rehearsal everyone in the room and some members of the team outside of it will be capturing and sharing their day using the hashtag: #ParallelLines and I am going to coordinate all the tweets in a storify which I will update through out the day placing them in chronological order and documenting that day from the different perspectives of all the team.

I'm hoping it'll be a different way of livestreaming, make interesting content and I'm looking forward to seeing the outcome and whether we can keep up the momentum . . .
