My name is Lowri and I graduated from the 3 year Acting course at Royal Central last year. In my time since graduating, I have worked on a number of projects, ranging from a two-hander for company ‘Ensemble 52’ playing violinist Alma Rose who led the Auschwitz women’s orchestra, to immersive theatre with ‘Secret Cinema’ alongside Laura Marling. I took my one woman comedy show to the Edinburgh Fringe last year in which I played my character Candace Morgan, a frazzled Welsh businesswoman who becomes increasingly unable to finish her talk!
Before Central, I went to Cambridge where I performed in 35 plays with the ADC and Footlights and was awarded a place among only ten performers in Procter and Gamble’s ‘Varsity Top 100’ with the description: ‘one of the friendliest faces in Cambridge theatre, Lowri Amies is a four-plays-a-term girl. There will be few theatregoers in the city who have not appreciated her genius at some point’.
I love writing comedy sketches, and recently enjoyed performing in News Revue, so I am always interested in meeting new people with similar interests or experience. I also enjoy writing poetry and am about to branch out into playwriting! I also play the violin to Grade 8, so am also always on the lookout to meet other actor musicians!
Projects I’m working on:
I am currently rehearsing to be in the Ensemble of Parade at Putney Arts Theatre
but in my spare time I am writing a new one woman show featuring Candace Morgan and investigating writing a new three-hander!
Some of our @swanseaCoS volunteers has been to Tenby on 16/09/2016 to National Theatre Wales' new show Tide Whisperer - which focuses on the global phenomenon of displacement, mass movement, and the resulting refugees. Incredible Performance! Well done @NTWtweetspic.twitter.com/aWAoAB6sYo
