Hi Guys

BareKnuckle Theatre will be performing Romeo & Juliet this month!

Tues 28 June to Sat 2 July, 7.30pm                  £10 / £8 concessions available Tues-Thurs only

An ancient feud between the Montague and Capulet families disrupts peace in the city of Verona with tragic consequences for star-cross’d lovers, Romeo and Juliet.

From the “company to contend with for both modern interpretation and imagination”, comes the world’s best known tragedy

After a wildly successful début with ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in 2010, the audience for ‘Twelfth Night’ grew in January 2011.   Now with two shows and a reputation for creative excellence under its belt, Bare Knuckle Theatre is back in action this summer.  Described as “one of Cardiff’s most up-and-coming companies” and “a delight to watch”, their next production is one you cannot afford to miss.

Avoid disappointment and book your seats now.

Hello all,

Firstly I would like to say thank you for getting in touch and showing an interest in the company and its work. As some of you may know, we announced that we would be starting to develop a new piece of work this summer. The Verbatim project will focus on 18 to 25 year olds in the prison system in Britain. We will develop this through workshops and writing sessions, aiming to complete our new project by February next year.

The first workshop is this Friday the 10th of June, and it will be held at the new "Volcano" space @ 229 High Street, Swansea,SA1 1NY. The workshop will only last 3 hours from 1pm-4pm.

The aim of these workshops is to develop specific material and workshop ideas with a wide range of performers, and also by doing so, widen our pool of existing artists to cast the actual project.

If you are around and would like to be considered for this workshop and future ones, please email your interest and submit you CV if you haven't done already, ASAP!, as we can only work with a limited amount of people at a time.

Many Thanks,

Rhys & Viv

Gradco to launch new project in 2011

In June 2011 GradCo will begin work on a new, exciting project which will see the Company produce a new piece of work with a core group of performers from dance and acting backgrounds.

The piece will investigate the experiences of young offenders in and around the South Wales area and culminate with performances across Wales and further afield.

If you would like to be involved in the initial workshops and creative platforms, please sign up to our mailing list. Keep checking the website for updates on our partners, collaborations and casting days at www.gradco.org

Hello all,

Can you help spread the word about our funding target for Séan Tyrone by Mark Ryan?

So far we've raised 10% of £1000, with just four weeks to go.We desperately need these additional funds for travel costs to take the show to Ireland and to help with marketing the show for it's run in Cardiff at Chapter.

If you can help by going to our funding page and clicking the like button, that would be wonderful.

If you can pledge even a £1 to help us reach our goal, that would be amazing.

And if you can spread the word by telling your friends it would be marvellous.

Thank you

The Everyman Summer Theatre Festival

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS

by William Shakespeare

An opportunity has arisen to join the cast of this year’s Shakespeare production for the Everyman Summer Theatre Festival.

The Everyman Festival is Wales' original and leading pro/am summer theatre festival, performing every year since 1983.

Led by a professional creative team, the play will be staged in the open-air at the National Museum of Wales, St Fagans to an audience of up to 3,000 people over 12 consecutive performances.

Please note that this is a community theatre project and as such all actors are unpaid.

“I see two husbands or mine eyes deceive me …”

Separated at birth by shipwreck, two sets of estranged twins unwittingly cross paths in the same seaside resort.

Hotly pursued by jealous wives, predatory landladies, dodgy salesmen, and even the odd nun or two, the inevitable mistaken identities lead to wild accusations of theft, infidelity, insanity and demonic possession!

Shakespeare’s earliest and most farcical work makes a welcome return to the Festival after 20 years.  Travel with us to sunny Ephesus-on-Sea for a merry-go-round of mayhem and madness in which no one is quite certain who’s who and what’s what!

Director:  Simon H. West

Designer:  Becky Davies

Performance Dates:  Wednesday, 20th July – Saturday, 30th July 2011  [12 consecutive performances with a matinee on Sat. 30th July]

Dress Rehearsal:  Tues. 19th July

Technical Rehearsals:  Sun. 17th & Mon. 18th July

Rehearsal period:  Sun. 29th May – Sat. 16th July

Rehearsal days [tbc]:  Evenings and Weekends only.  Scheduled calls: Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursday 19.00 to 22.00,  Saturdays & Sundays 10.00 to 17.00.

Extra rehearsal days may be added nearer production period.

ROLE TO BE CAST

We are currently casting the role of:

Antipholus of Ephesus

Male, 30s – mid-40s, Height approx 5’11, Medium Build.  (Some leeway is possible but as his ‘twin’ has already been cast, we are working within certain constraints.)

The twin brother of Antipholus of Syracuse and the son of Egeon and Emilia.  He is a well-respected and wealthy merchant in Ephesus and husband to Adriana.  He begins the play with a firm sense of identity as a man with many material assets: wife, a comfortable home, wealth and business associates who respect him. All these will be threatened before the play's resolution. He responds to the confusions with lack of humour, anger and violence.  (210 lines)

ALL OTHER ROLES ARE CURRENTLY CAST

Thanks to everyone who sent their good wishes for Fragments of Ash. Now the business of seeking funding commences. Any fresh ideas out there?
