If this sounds like your thing, please get in touch! ruth_stringer@yahoo.co.uk - I'll pass details to the rest of the team.

South Wales theatre company Fucktons of Faries are back, and we're embarking on an exciting new project.
We're starting a theatre laboratory group, and we are inviting artists to come and join us. The group's explorations will be rooted in Action Theatre, the methodology developed by performance artist Ruth Zaporah. Action Theatre is a psycho-physical approach, that trains the body and mind to become more aware and present. Through structured improvisations, the group will train as an ensemble, together building performance skills, sharing creative ideas and reflections.
Sessions will run every Thursday, from 7:30pm - 9:30pm, at WMC. If you'd like to join us, and be a part of this collective exploration, please write to emrysbarnes@gmail.com, outlining your interest in the project and your relevant eperience. We look forward to hearing from you!
June's SCAB was great and if you missed it you truly missed out. A wonderful and generous night of brilliant, varied performance based work with a lovely, constructive audience.
July's SCAB will take place at The Moon Cardiff on Womanby Street in Cardiff on July 31st. We'll be there from 7 with the first act kicking off at 8. The venue is fully accessible and completely brilliant.
WHAT IS SCAB: A night of new live art and performance. Whether this is your first time trying an idea, one in development or you've just come along to gawk at the amazing displays of talent this is a night for you.
WHAT WE OFFER: A brilliant and insightful audience prepared to give you support and constructive criticism on how to develop your work and take it further. Invaluable whether you're a new artist or have years of experience.
WHAT WE WANT: Performances between 10-20 minutes in length. The new, the strange, the experimental, the weird and different. Move, sing, make noises, say words if it counts as performance or live art we want it. Try out some choreography, a devised piece or maybe just ramble in to a microphone. Basically if you've got live work and you're you're struggling to find a platform to test it on we're for you!
So if you want to pick at your SCAB and show us what you've got send us an email with an artist bio, a bit about the piece you'll be bringing and its expected length. Send emails to:
Hi all Hope you are well. I am not sure if you have seen over facebook at all, but I have just opened a theatre company in the Vale, and I am running a Writer's Scratch Night. This event will be a workshop style event where the writers present their work to actors, then workshop it with them as part of a development process. I am wondering if you could possibly share the event with some of your 16+ actors or if you have anyone with any writing in the pipeline. The event is free - and it's aims are to look at supporting and developing the work of those who are young in the industry through practical ways. The Event ishttps://www.facebook.com/events/503451750088697/
I'm taking part in Theatr Iolo's Plattform programme this year, in partnership with The Riverfront in Newport.
Plattform is an artist development programme, this year the theme is making theatre for families.
There will be a weeks R&D in the last half of October and Im I interested in developing a show around climate and environment, about the decisions we make as adults and how they will effect future generations, about how we can create a more hopeful narrative. Im interested in creating labyrinth of unexpected spaces where a story can unfold through performance, sound and/or video.
Are you a designer (perhaps working with found materials), a sound designer, a poet, a performer, a musician, a digital or ANY OTHER KIND OF ARTIST based in Cardiff, Newport or Bristol who would like to be involved?
if so email me hello(at)gavinporter.co.uk or Im on Twitter @gavinPorter_ and lets meet for coffee.
We are presenting the Cardiff premiere of Philip Ridley's beautiful play VINCENT RIVER in the next few weeks, and are in the process of Crowdfunding in order to make this important play happen in Wales.
We still have a way to go, so would really appreciate any sized donations towards our final target. We understand that not everybody is in the position to donate, so if you are interested in project, and fancy helping out an Emerging Theatre company in staging the best possible production of this play, we would equally appreciate just a share of the Crowdfunder link on social media platforms, to continue to spread the word in the last fortnight of Crowdfunding.
We hope you can help us out. Diolch yn fawr, Luke and the Team.
After a really exciting ACW-funded first phase in Cardiff and Bulgaria, Projekt Ikarus is looking to recruit a Producer to work with us on the next phase.
Experience of international touring, fundraising and experimental/ physical theatre preferred.

Zenpensis an exciting new writer’s retreat based in Cardiff City Centre. Adapted from the Writer’s Army workshops lead by the New York playwright Anne Washburn, Zenpens allows writers to concentrate solely on their work in meditative silence.
Togetherness is a spur . The presence of other writers can allow you to work longer and more productively than you normally would and helps to move you through periods of inattention and malaise.
Cool, so how does it work?
Zenpens is a one day silent writers retreat. No phones. No social media. No distractions.
Meeting at 9:45 am for a short debrief and writing exercises, we start working in earnest at 10 am until 1 pm. An hour lunch. Then more silent writing from 2 pm until 6 pm.
The most important rule is that everyone starts and leaves at the same time. It’s a quiet space, but most importantly it’s a space where everyone is working steadily together.
We also ask that people not work during lunch. Periods of not working and switching off completely are vital for overall productivity.
What’s on offer?
A supportive space to begin something new or rehash something old.
New networking possibilities.
Writing exercises to boost creativity.
Free tea and coffee facilities.
How much?
Money collected at the retreat is used to pay for the space and its upkeep. If you can, please pay the suggested donation of £8 or £5 concession.
This sounds right for me, when’s the next one?
Zenpens will be taking place on the 20th April at the John Dennithorne Room, Quaker Meeting House, 43 Charles Street, Cardiff CF10 2GB.
I'll be directing a couple of things at Boom Town in August including a large scale circus piece and the walkabout and balcony work with the Dank Parish in Mayfair. I'm going to be looking to meet some people who might want to come along and play soon, so if you're interested in popping into a rehearsal room with me and coming along to the festival feel free to drop me a line on kristoffer.huball@gmail.com so I can add you to my list of people interested in getting involved in some walkabout work.
With an aim to support freelance practitioners, create connections and share opportunities in Wales, we will be starting a new monthly group SYNERGIZE.
Whether you are a performer, writer, producer or director, you are welcome to our first meeting where we will explore how we wish to work together over the coming months and what we wish to achieve.
The meeting will be held on MONDAY 25th MARCH 5pm - 7pm in the Community Room, Tesco Extra, Western Avenue, Cardiff CF14 3AT.
Refreshments will be provided and we will ask for a donation of £3 to cover costs. As we have space for around 30 people, please email your interest to info@mercurytheatrewales.co.uk
Spaces are still available for the next silent writing retreat.

WHAT IS SCAB:
A night of new live art and performance. Whether this is your first time trying an idea, one in development or you've just come along to gawk at the amazing displays of talent this is a night for you.
WHAT WE OFFER:
A brilliant and insightful audience prepared to give you support and constructive criticism on how to develop your work and take it further. Invaluable whether you're a new artist or have years of experience.
WHAT WE WANT:
Performances between 10-20 minutes in length.

The Event is https://www.facebook.com/events/503451750088697/

Do you dutifully start typing only to be tempted to dive into Instagram, or start cleaning the kitchen, or Skype an old friend…?
Zenpens is an exciting new writer’s retreat based in Cardiff City Centre.
How can I get in touch?
Spaces are limited, so please email your interest to Paul Stoyle at zenpenssilentretreat@gmail.com or visit https://zenpens-silentwritersretreats.yolasite.com/ for more information.
Best wishes,
Zenpens.
