Profile Information

What I do:
I'm a qualified maths teacher, currently home educating my daughter Emily. I don't consider myself to be in the least bit creative and it's probably because of this that I greatly appreciate and admire the creativity in others. I became involved in NTW during the time they spent with the Empty Shops Project in Newport. I think that it's wonderful that NTW are so supportive of Emily, helping to fill a huge gap in her personal development that otherwise would possibly have been neglected.
A little more about me:
Drama skills: nil. Writing skills: nil. Singing skills: don't even ask. Maths skills: a little rusty nowadays. Why am I here? I appreciate the skills I lack - especially creativity - in other people. I want to get involved, put something back. The Empty Shops Project and NTW have both dramatically changed my life and the way I think for the better. I thank my lucky stars they were there when I pulled Emily out of school. I can safely say that, as a result, she is now de-institutionalised, a young lady with confidence and conscience, able to think for herself outside the box.
Location:
Newport
Projects I’m working on:
I'm currently working with TEAM Newport helping to organise a celebration of the 150th birthday of Caerleon born author Arthur Machen, planned for Spring 2013. In the run-up to this festival we will be trying to raise Machen's profile locally so that he is more than just a blue plaque on a wall. It's a really exciting project, so much going on... An honour and a privilege to be working with the university students and their lecturer Phil Morris, Tinshed Theatre, Hole in the Wall Theatre, Caerleon Scribblers, Jon Sherwood, Devinda and others too many to mention.
