I'm currently working hard to get ready to launch my Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for Pandora's Locker. we are going to doing some R&D for an incredible youth opera that blends biomedics with issues of identity, power and gender. It's just getting its own Twitter account going off the back of my own: www.twitter.com/pandoraslocker
And in doing so I've been collating other people's and reflecting on my own top tips for a successful crowdfunded campaign:
- Give your total a boost early on by making sure family, friends or project partners pledge in the first couple of days
- Use every bit of your network online and offline - family, friends, professional networks, social media, book group, parents at school, etc
- Rather than just asking people to support or give, try creating a sense of excitement through devices like: 'can we reach 200 backers today?' or 'will you help us reach £xxx this weekend?'
- Of the projects that have reached 20% of their funding goal, 80% were successfully funded so it’s really important to get and keep the momentum going!
- Plan, plan and plan some more - and devote 10 minutes every day that the campaign is up to doing something to help you reach your target.
What would yours be? I'd love to know!
