My name is Francesca Dimech and I am based in Cardiff.
I play trumpet, guitar and singing in local bands as well as having my own musical comedy act called Francesca's Word Salad. This is a solo comedy/theatre show which tells the story of some macabre characters. The bands I play in are Wonderbrass, The School, Inc.A and Hail! The Planes. One of the bands, The School is signed to a Spanish record label which means that we get to play shows all across Europe.
I also enjoy theatre work. I was a musician/actor in Rude: A Ska Musical by Give It A Name Theatre for two runs in 2010 and 2012 and am currently working with Tin Shed Theatre and my band, Inc.A, in Dr Frankenstein's Travelling Freak Show. Other than performing, I have also led bilingual (Welsh/English) vocal and movement workshops in schools with Man Mela Theatre company, puppetry making workshops with SWICA and Small World Theatre in Cardigan, as well as brass playing workshops for all ages with Wonderbrass. More recently, I have become involved with Adamsdown Arts Association where I have been teaching local children how to create instruments from recycled materials, how to write songs and how to incorporate the instruments in their songs.
Projects I’m working on:
