Hi Everyone

I have to be honest I have made life hard for myself by not getting everyone's contacts at our meeting in Dec. Do any of you have emails for David Chamberlin and Guy O'Donnell? The doodle account was in my name but set up by Abdul and am not sure how to go about reusing the system! I really am not a fab administrator but don't want to put off organising the meeting for this reason only!

Thanks for your help

Sarah

Hello everyone, happy new year to one & all.

I think you are correct in your thinking about the steering group Sarah.

Really looking forward to seeing how everything develops over the coming months. Also happy to offer assistance to the steering group although cannot fully commit to being part of the steering group due to time constraints.

Hi All

Happy New Year! I know I still owe you notes but could someone with a brain still in place since Christmas let me know if I'm right in thinking the steering group are to be:

Miranda Ballin

Jane Boon

Guy O'Donnell

David Chamberlin

Phil Mackenzie

and I think Jason Camilleri was nominated from WMC

Oh and me!

Thanks for the notes Guy.

Shall we use an online calander again?

Cheers

Sarah

Below are my notes from the recent Youth Arts meeting hosted by the WMC.

After the meeting a decision was made to form a small steering group in order to take things forward to date this group hasn’t yet met.
Phil Mackenzie of Sherman Cymru offered the Sherman as a possible space.
Some of the discussion areas from my group included,
• A shared list of Youth Theatre groups and contacts.
• A Peer mentoring Scheme, are there young people who would be interested in this?
• Apprenticeships, brief discussion of CCSkills Creative Apprenticeships.
I believe they are currently running a Technical Theatre, Theatre Costume and a Community Arts Admin training pathway. Would any of the young people we support be interested in any of this training? Or could a youth Arts group host an Apprentice?
• Look at ways to up skill young people if they want to develop skills as specialists or practioners.
• A skills audit, what are the strengths and weakness regarding Youth Theatre.
I.e. I have a background in Theatre Design so will often support Bridgend Youth Theatre in this area. Could this type of practice be rolled out to other youth theatres?
• Getting the young peoples voices involved in this process. What’s the best way?
Video, Facebook? blogs
• Young People as creators themselves, could an application be made to ACW to support a weekend of activity for young people? Could some of the content of this weekend be based on the recent ACW Young Creators Document.
http://www.artswales.org.uk/what-we-do/publications/education-and-y...
• Examples of best practice or case study documents?
• A future Welsh Youth Theatre Festival
We discussed approaching companies and venues to see if there are any appropriate performances which may be of interest to young people, perhaps a workshop and then see a performance?

Apologies, we are in the process of moving back into the theatre after 2 years out. Will let you know of possible dates very soon.

Hi Everyone,

Was great to see you lots of people at the meeting last week. The next step is to organise a meeting between the working group to arrange an initial Youth Theatre Practioners Sharing Day which will pave the way for a full weekend possibly residential with either a youth component or an additional young peoples day. Will write up some notes but would be great if someone from each group shared their discussion on the kind of content and aims of a practioner sharing event on here. Think am waiting to hear from Phil about dates for The Sherman in March/April for day 1?

Many Thanks

Sarah
